I just do not see how Bill couldnt get a team with talent far.

I think we have talent.

He seems like he would be a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Just doesnt seem real that he would fail here all things equal and assuming he not get bit with injury bug.

I get that he mismanaged NE at the end and has a lousy history drafting recently...but he wouldnt be doing GM things here.

Unless there are strong rumors inside coaching circles that he sucks at game planning or that it was all Brady and assistent coaches...I just dont see how the guy could fail.

I definitely understand the go younger approach as opposed to a guy that isnt super long term...but if you have a window and want to win...how could he not be a top candidate?

Yes.
  • Big Mac has no shot this year as lame duck and only patch job so far a 32 year old LB.
  • Both are good friends. Jerry prefers veteran coaches.
  • They compliment each other. Both stubborn old fogies. Bill hates media, Jerry loves It. Bill loves XnO, Jerry hates it.
  • Jimmy Johnson is Bill Belichick's mentor.
  • Jerry made Parcells work. Parcells had much bigger ego and was used to being the GM “cook.”
  • Jerry likes making headlines with HOF coaches.
  • Belichick gets a year to rejuvenate. Do the media thing with Peyton Manning’s studio. Humble pie, but crave game again.
  • You can’t fire the GM. What else you going to do?

I’m aware of the ‘Jerry being the hero’ with the Ware situation, but BP was handling player personnel for the most part while was here.

Yes, Jerry made two moves that Parcells didn’t agree with and they each turned out well. That probably fueled the situation we are still paying for.

Outside of 2005, Parcells’ drafts were awful. His strength was getting every ounce out of the players he had on hand, not selecting them.

I’m not sure of our point here, but when BP was HC, I certainly recall hearing most of the PCs with an understanding of who was in charge. Makes sense since Jerry didn’t at all like it, and once the roster was built, and a new QB was groomed, he couldn’t wait to say ‘thanks, I’ll take it from here,’ and they have been following his football isn’t first lead ever since.

Still, I have mixed feelings on it. I didn’t like that BP had to wait two years to install the 34 because Jerry had just extended Zimmer. I also thought he would have had that 2007 team better prepared for that Giants game, but then again….they probably don’t even get there without TO.
The link I had was BP saying a committee overruled him. That is not Jerry the hero.

Any coach is going to have to accept the committee.. BP was awful at drafting. He was the beginning of the 2nd round horror show trying to get him OL he wanted after overruling him elsewhere.

The 2007 team is still the best roster in my eyes since the 90s squad. They massively choked under Wade.
The vast majority of that squad was drafted/acquired by Bill Parcells.

It's too bad Wade couldn't do more with Parcells guys the way Switzer did with Jimmy's. I think Bill coulda at least squeezed an NFCCG outta that group had he stayed. If not more.

I would NOT be surprised if Jerry let both Big Mike and DAK walk next year.....Jerry could have his eye on the BIG PRISE....bringing Primetime back to Dallas as the Cowboys HC and drafting his son......that would be the ultimate show for Jerry and the Cowboys...the crowd will go wild and Dallas will be all the talk of the NFL......something Jerry cherishes the most....its a long shot but I would not put it past Jerry tanking this year to go draft Shedder Sanders next year......thats my tip of the day. :)

I want to look back on this next year when we know.
Oh. I gotta bookmark this thread. Needless to say, I will be thoroughly shocked if Belichick is named head coach for Dallas at any time in the future beyond today.

Read Jimmy’s autobiography. Belichick would visit his place in the keys every offseason and grill him on how he built the Cowboys 90’s dynasty.

Jerry and Stephen are backing this team into the corner.

After having one of the worse offseason in memory, they will see it as their only chance to be relevant again.

I bet Belichick could beat Jimmy in a Gruffness Contest.
And in a cage match.
