His 2nd year wasnt as good as last year, but 32 TDs, 13 ints, and a 91.3 established a solid base that he built on. Thats all

As for Dak. I wont even go there. He was excellent. Great rookie year. Outstanding.
Yeah. Seriously, a kid straight out of College with no real time to learn anything. It was an outstanding, almost unbelievable season.

61.1 completion with 91 qbr. If Dak did that this year, no way would the people who said he wasn't top 10 after his rookie year, then put him in the top 10 because of those stats for his 2nd year.
If he had that last year and followed it up this year with what Carr did last year, they might.
It would show clear growth and an established floor in some eyes.

All Dak has to do is followup last year with another strong one (and QB rating can even drop some if TDs go up without a ton of picks) and he WILL be top ten in most everyone's eyes. They just want confirmation.

I think he will be strong again this year. He's not backing off.

No way. The best rookie season by a qb ever, and he's not top 10. But because he follows it with a 61%, and 91 qbr, now that's good enough. Dak would be torn apart if he had that kind of season.

They still have to prove it. At that level you have to prove it every time you set foot on the field. Tough job but no different than performing an operation.

For all quarterbacks in the NFL with 300 or more career passes, Dak is ranked #1 in history.

Yes, he has only been in the league for one year, but.......after only one year, DAK IS RANKED #1 IN HISTORY!

Rookies don't come in and take their team on an elevan game winning streak. They don't get minimum attention and reps throughout the minicamps and preseasons then go out and set a record for attempts before 1st INT. They don't tie up a division round playoff game with less than a minute to play after being down by 18 points. They don't shred #1 defenses.

And if they were drafted in the 4th round? Hail, they don't get on the plane! They certainly din't deliver stats worthy of Hall of Famers.

In the top ten? Seriously? There is no category for what Dak has done because it has NEVER been done before.

I am telling you, we are seeing the next Roger Staubach/Joe Montana/Tom Brady.

Today, this very moment, Dak Prescott is a top 2 quarterback. I''ve seen enough of Rodgers to give him his due but I won't concede the #1 spot to him.

Excellent post. I like the way you think!

A question with no legit answer, really.

In no particular order:

Brady
Ryan
Luck
Rodgers
Brees
Wilson
Carr
Roethlisberger
Newton
Stafford
Rivers
Cousins
Palmer
Winston
Dalton
Mariota
Wentz
Flacco
Manning

Every player above could be better than Dak. It's too early to know. If we went only by last year, Dak would be top 3-4, but what if we didn't have quite that running game? What if the OL is worse? What if each QB on the list had a season with last year's Cowboys? Can Dak maintain that QBR and TD/INT ratio? Unlikely.

All signs point to Dak being a true franchise QB for us, but even that doesn't mean he is or will be at the very top of the NFL for his position. All I want is for him to keep his head screwed on straight (seems a given) and for Dallas to keep him surrounded by a great offensive unit so we never have to find out if he can carry the team on his back. That didn't work out for Romo and isn't working out for Luck.

If his stats were in the top 10 then yes he is a top 10 QB. ( for last season)

As of right now he has the same stats as 31 other starting QBs on the 2018 season.

Dak needs to be better than every QB he plays against this year in that game. Pass better than your opponent and you will win at a very high rate. If he ends up in the top ten or better top five then great for us and him.

I meant if Dak had Carr's last two years his first two years.
So this year, he'd have 28 TDs and 6 ints and 99.6 QB rating.
A massive 22 TD to INT differential.
Surely the question would be gone then with back to back seasons.

Don't know how I got into this Dak stuff. He was great.

My point was that Carr looks very strong too. He's gotten better every year.

The fantastic thing about Dak is his upside is huge. This can't be stressed enough: he had the success he did last year as a rookie playing in a pro style offense he was STILL LEARNING.

He struggled at times, because literally everything he was seeing was new. That won't be the case this year. He's coming in for his second year knowing where he needs to improve and the coaches are helping him.

The Giants did indeed have his # last year, that was probably the best defense we faced all year. Dak is a hard worker and he intends to be better this year and leave the sweat on the practice field to make sure it happens.

Absolutely. I don't know what the future holds but he certainly performed in his rookie year. Nobody could have asked for better.

He certainly played like one last season. This season will certainly tell the tale. I think he is.

Yes this, you really can't debate anything beyond since we only have one year to evaluate.
Come to think about it, the latest year is really all that matters, it's not like Peyton manning was even a top ten QB his SB year with Denver. Eventually Brady will start falling off too and top 5 top 10 rankings won't matter outside of the current year until you are talking about "of all time"
