Is Dak the only super greedy QB in Cowboys history?

A big issue with QBs now is that they are not making a proportional amount to what guys did 10 years ago. Romos last contract at $18M per year made up roughly 14% of the cap. Daks is closer to 24% by AAV, Burrow was pushing 25% when he signed. A lot of these mega QB deals are also happening while a player is on their rookie contract which makes them longer term deals. Burrow's deal was essentially a 7 year deal. Josh Allen was 8 years. Mahomes was a 12 year agreement. Simply put the Dak contract situation was mishandled from the start including hitting the guy with the franchise tag. We can blame Dak...we can blame Jerry....ultimately it doesn't matter where the blame goes, its still a horrible contract for a team that doesnt like to spend money on its roster to take on.

Romo was never the highest paid ever. And was 10x the QB Dak will ever be.

And got his job taken and retired by the quarterback he's 10x better than. How ironic....

Maybe he should have been 11x better than Dak.

Super greedy?

Dak started for four years on a 4th round rookie contract, averaging $680,000 a year.

During that time, he never miossed a single game. He started all 64 regular season games, with the team going 40-24. He made two Pro Bowls, averaged 3994 yards and 24 passing TD's a season. He also averaged 330 rushing yards and 5 TD's per season.

Meanwhile, Jared Goff, the #1 overall pick in the same draft as Dak, averaged 3553 yards and 22 TD's per season on his rookie contract, an average of 6.9 million dollars, more than ten times Dak's contract at the same time.

I'm guessing that Dak felt very strongly that some other player should be willing to offer a discount.

I'm not saying he should have been given his most recent contract. I'm saying he has that contract due to Jerry's incompetence and not his "super greed".
Agreed. Most of these QBs don’t start cutting their salary until their late 30’s. Dak is just doing what the market will pay. Jethro is the dumb one who thinks he should be the highest paid NFL player.

We just got a new coach, still have a bad GM, don't have any idea how the roster and the season will go......but it's National Romo Day.........again.

I always say were is our Mahomes, Brady, Manning, Burrows, Allen, Rodgers?

Most valuable team in sports... I don't want to hear they don't grow on trees lol.
At this point I’d take anything lol…..I do wonder if those guys would be the same here and how our guys would fair elsewhere in a different culture. It’s tough because we never got to see it. We never saw Romo or Dak outside of Dallas aside from college…

Based on the simple notion that most of his supporters can't say anything negative about him or except other people critiques of him. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that, that is not normal. ;) And well some of his followers do take it very personal -- any critique.
It’s fandom though lol. You don’t understand that but donyou understand why guys hate him to the point of bringing up his brothers death and moms cancer? It gets ugly on both sides but I don’t get the hatred to that extent.

No he didn’t look again Josh Allen got 1 Lamar got 49 that’s 50 so no he didn’t
It’s not a vote system it’s a point system. Lamar got 493 points…Dak got 152 and McCaffery got 147…Josh Allen only got 80….

You are not completely clarifying what occurred by omitting Dak Prescott did not receive a single first-place MVP vote.
Which also to clarify 1st place votes are all that mattered up until 2022. Under the old system thats only been in place for a couple years now Dak would not have registered anything in the MVP voting. That certainly doesnt take away the fact that he was MVP runner up last season, but I do think its important to keep in mind when we talk about the accomplishment from a historical standpoint.

MVP is kinda stupid, and it is always a qb, and just a popularity contest.
If only players voted, and any position was ok, then it would be more accurate.

Let’s clarify how many first place votes did he get. Everyone knows it’s a total of 1st 2nd and so forth but the fact is Dak received exactly 0 first place votes

This isn’t to you but I do find it funny people get upset about the runner up stuff. It doesn’t make Dak anything more than he was and it doesn’t hurt him. Both sides win lol yet it’s always a fight. Lamar deserved MVP IMO and probably deserves it this year too. But 49 first place votes I don’t know about. He won that 9ers game and that killed Purdy and CMac who also were runner ups. Dak losing those games down the stretch hurt him too.
