Is Dez our slowest receiver?

Some here are trying to put Dez's lack of production last year and on Sunday on our QB situation but he had some solid games as a rookie with Jon Kitna at QB. Dez's first 100 yard receiving game came with Kitna at QB.

Dez ran a 4.52 at the combine but would have a tough time running under 4.60 now. He played faster than he timed earlier in his career. He had a catch and run up the sidelines for a TD a few years ago and a defender had an angle on him and he ran right past him. He can't run like that anymore.
Don't know if he did it but most of them train for running those 40's and few ever run that fast again. Michael Johnson has a company in the Metroplex that trains players for the Combine.

He's a possession WR and not a deep guy so speed isn't as important as quickness. Watch the difference between Antonio Brown and Bryant running routes. Bryant is also stiff and not as flexible and fluid as the best route runners. His game is all about physicality.

Lol... He breaks his foot.... Comes back and plays on it. Plays 1 game during a new season... "He can't run anymore".

What kind of logic did you use to come up with that?

He had foot and ankle surgery after last season and is suppose to be fully recovered and he's still running like he did when he was injured. Hakeem Nicks had the same injury and was never the same and Dez hasn't been the same since his injury. His one catch for 8 yards on Sunday was the least productive game of his career. I went to training camp this summer and watched him closely and heard several fans in the crowd say he doesn't look as quick and fast anymore. It was obvious to everyone and you could clearly see it on Sunday. He doesn't look like the same player. I'm not saying he's done but unless he regains some of the quickness out of his breaks he's never going to put up the numbers he did.

Amazing how Antonio brown goes up against josh Norman, Deangelo Hall all game with safety help and still wreaks havoc all over the place
Also amazing how things that didn't happen are used to attack players on the team you're a "fan" of. Hall is a safety and AB went up primarily against Breeland but reality deflates your argument so you went with made up crap instead. Good job!

And you gathered all of this information after 1 game?

Julio Jones had the same injury too.. Maybe Hakeem Nicks was just overhyped to begin with.

It's not his straight away speed that's concerning he's not getting off the line of scrimmage like he did with the same burst and he's slower out of his breaks which is why he's having so much trouble gaining separation. He's facing the same coverages he always has but his lack of quickness is making it difficult for him to shake a defender. You can see that it's frustrating him. He's the most explosive player on our offense or at least he was and the Cowboys are trying to find ways to get the ball in his hands but he can't get away from anyone.

Dez has never been a burner but he's definitely fast enough. They've played one game. Can we see a few games before we get rid of all the receivers?

Dez is faster than Irvin when he was 27 and Aikman had no problem getting him the ball. Dez isn't going to burn anyone but he will beat any corner to the ball, whether he has possession of the ball when he comes down is another question.

Wait dez is the only legitimate deep threat a team game plans to have the 4th round rookie pass deep to beat them. Rookie takes a couple of shots but dez is bracketed most of the game. So how do you as a we get separation if your coaches have you line up and do winds prints against double coverage all day.

Just one game? Where have you been? I'm looking at how he looked after he came back from the injury last season and he looked the same way on Sunday. Julio Jones had the same injury but shut it down for the season after his and didn't play on it. He returned like the same Julio Jones we've come to know with 7 catches for 116 yards in the opener in 2014. Dez was the least productive receiver for either team on Sunday.

Even Victor Cruz who hadn't played in 2 years had a more productive game than Dez. This is Dez's 7th season and for him to have the least productive game of his career in the OPENER after returning from foot and ankle surgery is pretty concerning. Jerry is probably suffering some serious buyers remorse after signing Dez to that huge contract. No way would Dez have gotten that contract looking like he does now.

They shut him down early last year.. Of course he wasn't healthy. If you're judging him on that then to you I would say no **** he looked slower.

If you're blaming Dez's productivity on him then you're on a island with a few of the Garrett homers.

You don't have enough information to say the things you're saying.

Do I worry that Dez can't get by DBs anymore?

Nah..Not really.. And it sure as heck would be a horrible bet if you're betting against him.

I don't know doesn't look like the same receiver he was a couple years ago whatever the reason

But if you offered to give him to a team if they take his salary I think you get 31 rejections

Nicks was improving every year and had back to back 1000 yard seasons and fell off the map after his foot injury. He was an excellent receiver who reminded me of Dez and the injury
clearly affected his game. Again I'm not saying Dez is going to end up like him but let's face it he hasn't looked like the same player since he injured his foot in the opener last season.

Hey.. You're entitled to your opinion.. I'll have to agree to disagree until there is more information.

But IMO you are jumping the gun on your opinion waaaaaayyyyyy too soon.

Ya the so close to a catch thing with him is crazy. I'm frustrated like everyone else but Dez is a playmaker and that hasn't changed.

They didn't shut Dez down until late in the season after he played on that injured foot for several games. They rushed him back to try and salvage the season and who knows what further damage he did to that foot. He then ended up injuring his ankle on a jump ball in the end zone which resulted in another surgery. He's had 2 surgeries and months of rehab and he still hasn't regained the burst and quickness he had. I saw him first hand at training camp and he doesn't look as fast and quick. You could hear other fans at camp talking about it. I'm not betting against Dez but if he doesn't start producing like he once did in the next 2-3 games then I believe his best days are behind him. He's going to have a tough time rebounding on Sunday facing Josh Norman.

You can't come to the conclusion that he doesn't look like the same receiver based on Sunday.

Did he look like the same guy after he came back last year? Heck no.. They shut his season down early because he never was healthy.

What am I jumping the gun on? I'm not saying he's done, I'm saying he doesn't look as fast and quick as he did prior to the injury. Would you not agree with that?

These guys couldn't catch him... How fast are they?

Couple things in the video that validates what people here have been saying. Half of his catches were made when he wasn't "open". He creates big plays when catching slants and digs.
