Is Dorial Green Beckham worth the headache?

Simply can't take a WR early(1-4) unless the draft board absolutely SCREAMS to take one. You'd essentially be drafting at best a #4 WR on this team. If any offensive position is drafted early, it will be OL. Maybe RB depending on what happens with Murray. Otherwise it will be a draft heavy on D.

Matt Miller said he had the worst off field problems he had seen

In the third round you almost have to. He's that great of a talent. Top 15 draft pick talent. I live very close to DGB's hometown and have had some experiences with people around him. One thing I know, he's dumb, like dumb and dumberer 2 stupid. The other, which is obvious, hangs out with thugs. Which is why he will fail the interview process and fall to 3rd round.

I remember when we passed up Randy Moss for some of these same reasons, because of Mike! Does Dez ring a bell? Kid had problems too. randy and mike with troy could have kept us on top. Passing on him would be Moss II. If he's there where we feel he's worthy, you snatch him. He's rare period and we have enough of a support system to help him overcome his issues like we have with Dez, Ro, Brent and others.

Anywhere after the later part of the third though I doubt he gets that far. Calvin Hill would be working overtime trying to get this guy's head right.

That's the challenge. You have to identify the ones you think are salvageable. I don't agree with just immediately putting a red X on any player with issues.

I don't know how you can answer this question without sitting down and talking to him and his inner circle.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has said that he will declare for the NFL draft, Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday.

Green-Beckham, who transferred from Missouri in April 2014 after several run-ins with the law, never played a down for the Sooners. He was not allowed to play this season after the NCAA denied the school's request for a waiver that would have made him eligible to play immediately.

While at Missouri, the talented Green–Beckham had numerous run-ins with the law. The first was actually while I was making a school visit to Missouri in the fall of 2012. The night I was there, he had a drug-related arrest. After that original run-in, he had a second drug-related arrest, and the final straw was last spring when he was involved in a domestic violence case at an apartment complex. He was never charged, as the victim would not give full cooperation, but Missouri had enough, and he was dismissed.

During the summer, he transferred to Oklahoma but was not able to play after the NCAA failed to grant him a waiver on their transfer rule. His football activities this past fall were as a receiver on the scout team. Coming out of high school, Green-Beckham was rated as a 5-star recruit and some recruiting services had him rated as the top high school prospect in the country. He choose in-state Missouri over some of the top programs in the country

This kid would not be the number 4 receiver on any team except maybe the pro bowl

I don't see the Cowboys taking a chance on him. To many good WR's in the draft to take a chance on him.

pass.

from a scheme stand point you only need him if you don't keep Dez.
they do the same things on the field.

and if you get him he hasn't played football in a long while now.
so he's probably going to take 2-3 years to hit his stride.(a lot like dez did)

he could be really good for someone but it's a lot to take on...,only worth it if you have a real need at wr.

dallas seems to be developing twill and beas to go with dez.

the other thing to consider is there are a lot of really big WRs this class.
if you can get a Devin Funchess at 6'5" and 230 in round 3 or 4 it might make more sense than taking on a character risk.

all that said dallas obviously gets great inside info from OU/Barry.
if DGB has been a model citizen and also working out real hard (or the opposite) we'd be the org most likely to know it.

I know he isn't a RKG but the guy is a beast.. Imagine Dez and him lined up. He's 6-6 225 pounds. Is he worth a 2 or 3?

They have to do their due diligence to make an educated guess on whether he is really a bad guy or just young and stupid. If he falls to a certain point in the draft it would be interesting; however, if he falls too far it probably means teams didn't get good news when they investigated him.

Jerry made a statement in the past the drug issues are the biggest red flag for the Cowboys in terms of draft prospects.

He's going to be a 1st round pick. Just watch. 6'6 225 lbs with elite athleticism and runs a 4.4 40. He'll go first round, there are plenty of teams who don't care about off field issues (Rams, Jets, Falcons just to name a few) and there are quite a few teams who need a WR.

He'll probably fail a drug test at the combine, but no one will hear about it until after the draft.
