The implication is Miles does not give it his all, that is as about a big of a indictment you can give a player. So yes, you are tearing him down. Your words not mine.

I never said he was a "next #1". I think I said he may never even be a true #2. So there you go.

It was not a great pass, I will give you that, but in the NFL that is a pass you must catch, just like Austin should have caught his.

Good...I like Hurd, but I don't have to slam him to build up my guy. Did you like Austin's TD return against Seattle in a playoff game? Speaking of preseason, did you like Austin's 70 yard Kickoff return...got brought back on a ticky tacky / phantom call.

Honestly the two games that most come to mind for me when I think about Austin are the games against Seattle and Green Bay. One was a playoff game and the other was home field advantage and Austin came up big. I haven't seen enough from Hurd in a big game to say yet.
TonyRomo#9;2934467 said:just cause it is a big indictment doesn't mean it isn't true. austin has all the physical capabilities so why is it not translating? where as hurd doesn't have near the athleticism as austin but still plays hard and makes the most.
and of coarse you think of those two games, those are the only games he has done anything.. funny you didn't remember the Commanders game to end 07, when he had 2 TD catches bounce off his hands.
and im not questioning austins return abilities.. he is good at that..
but hurd has been way more consistent then austin. and that is a fact.
i am not tearing down austin, i am stating what i believe i have seen in him. if you disagree, so be it. but i will take hurd out there when it counts.

I think were forgetting about him bc of the scaled down preseason playbook. Once we start w/ the combination routes and what not I think well see more of him.
Witten and Bennet controlling the middle of the field leaving Miles 1 on 1 on the outside w/ underrated speed.
Are you on the bandwagon?
RW Hitman;2934385 said:if he were to wanna stay at #3, then you would have a point. He has been here for three years, and this is his 4th. It would be nice to see him show up this year and I hope he does.
gbrittain;2934394 said:You can count on it, Miles Austin will make some big plays for Dallas.
I don't know if he is going to be a solid #2 WR or a Alvin Harper(ish) type guy for the Cowboys.
He may never be a true #2 caliber WR, but neither was Alvin Harper.
So no, why should I be cooled off on Miles Austin. He is young guy that has shown improvement.
If he shows nothing this year, then I will be cooled a plenty.
CATCH17;2934491 said:In all honesty I think they are going to have #3 WR by committee and even let someone sub Crayton every now and then.
Tenkamenin;2934281 said:We need Roy to be like Irvin and Miles to be like Harper, if Miles shows up with some big plays this offense is going to be impossible to stop.
zeroburrito;2934319 said:i've always liked hurd more than austin. i think he's a better wr.
Dodger12;2934610 said:I agree with most of what you said but it's hard to compare Harper, who was a 1st round pick, with an UFA. I don't know if Austin will even come close to Harper who was the ultimate #2 WR, IMO.
1991: 20 catches for 326 yards and 1 TD
1992: 35 catches for 562 yards and 4 TD's
1993: 36 catches for 777 yards and 5 TD's
1994: 33 catches for 821 yards and 8 TD's (led the league with a 24.9 YPC average)
What Harper could never be was a true #1 but he was great opposite Irvin.
