Is It Finally Time: Will Bobby start at ILB?

I've been as critical of Bobby as anyone, but I've also acknowledged that he needs to see extended playing time to see what he can do.

Personally, I'd like to see him get a chance to take Zach Thomas' spot at #2 ILB. I'd say draft an ILB but go into the year like Bobby is going to start, give him every chance to win the job.

I'm not ready to give up on Barbie just yet.

I will ****** puke if Jerry goes into next year handing Booby the starting job.

Don't pull a Brad Johnson on this one, J.

You dont hand a job to anyone.

It must be earned. If he earns it in traning camp and preseason I have no problems with it.

Let's just say I do not see that happening.

I wouldn't hate it if he got a chance there. He'll either improve or finally earn himself a bus ticket out of town.

No one said anything about handing anyone a job.

i was dsying much the same thing myself. Draft someoen in the second or third round and have them compete for the spot. i for one think he can do it and do it well. Everyone likes to forget he beat out Singleton and was playing well his rookie year. I don't think a guy that young loses the ability to play football unless hes gotten hurt and he has shown he can play in thisleague.

He needs a chance to prove himself.

However, I dont think he will win the job if he is given the chance. He is too soft and passive. Give me Cushing over Barbie.

I'm not saying you did.

Just simply if he wins the job fine, but he has to earn it first.

I dont think he will earn it though.

I'd be shocked if the guy can start for any legit D in the NFL. Hell, Justin Rogers and Tra Battle had more tkls. Dude is a chump. I'd have more confindece in Roy38 playing the RILB possition.

He would be a solid OLB in a 4-3, which is what he played in college.

But he is a horrible fit in a 3-4, and I said that from day one. Yes, that is me patting myself on the back.

I doubt it. Been in the league for 3 years and barely sniffs the field at all.

I expect nothing from him except more of the same. Special Teamer.

I'm torn on this one. I saw good play once he got more playing time in 2006. He stepped back the following years, quite possibly because of shifting positions, injury, etc. but he appeared to be making some progress last year. I would say he should be given every chance to compete this year rather than trying to get a 7th round pick from Parcells, but I don't know if that's his 1st round selection influencing my decision.

Unfortunately, Bobby is too soft to ever make any real contribution to this team.

Agreed. Bobbie would be best at weakside outside linebacker. He would have to cover FB's and ocassionally TE's and on most run plays he would be chasing the play. If the guy would just throw himself at some tackles he might actually be okay at RILB in our 3-4. He just needs some toughness. I think he would do okay in the coverage and even blitzing aspects of the position.

Can we have Bobbie get in the Iron Cage Match with guys like Colombo and Leonard Davis to toughen him up? Heck, I'm not even sure he could whoop a 56-year old Randy White right now.

Trade him to Miami for their 7th round draft draft pick, that is, if Parcells is willing to make a mistake on him twice, and give up that much for him to us.

Not worried, though. He won't start. More likely he's off the team than that.
