Is it just me or is Chris Collinsworth a better announcer than before?

Hearing for 3 hours how great the Giants were, how giddy and biased he sounded and him having a seizure after the Beckham catch, I had to mute the tv.

That's unfortunate.

You missed all the praise he lavished on the Cowboys o-line on that game winning drive.

Love Collinsworth... thought he was spot on with Beckham's catch, I loved the one play that Eli missed seeing a wide open Beckham after Scandrick stumbled on the play, you knew something big could've happed during the play, I couldn't wait to see the replay to see what they saw. I certainly like him a heck of a lot better than Jon Gruden, his love affair with players is so annoying.

In previous years, Collinsworth annoyed me so much any game he announced was met with multiple profanity-laced retorts from me at my TV set. Has he improved his announcing to be more capable and filled with less stupid remarks or have I just grown used to him?

I have liked him for years. I'm not certain he has changed so much as maybe the team is doing well and he finds positives about Dallas now that people like.

Always thought he was fair. Good or bad.

I think he's one of the better ones personally. Calls it like he sees it

On the game thread last night while the Cowboys were behind everyone was ripping Collinsworth. There were a number of posts with FANS tearing into him claiming he sucks and that he hates the Cowboys. Funny now that the Cowboys won all of a sudden Collinsworth looks like a better announcer. lol

I wasn't hollering at him even when we kept allowing third-down conversions. He seemed more fair to me in his analysis of what a team's doing wrong. In previous seasons I've felt like Collinsworth found things wrong with a team and then ripped into them with hyperbole and just never shut up. Maybe it's just me because I was pissed in lousy seasons and this season is good thus far, but it doesn't seem like it.

Collinsworth has always been one of the top analysts on TV.

And part of the reason is because he's not a homer. He was one of the first announcers who aired critical commentary against players and teams. And he's always been fair, IMO. He was praising Beckham's catch (which everyone aside from maybe Cowboys fans were thrilled with), and he was "bashing" the refs for getting several calls wrong. And he was gushing (like we all were) when the Cowboys offensive line allowed Romo to order an appetizer, meal and dessert shortly before he threw the game-winning touchdown strike to Dez. :)

Generally, I have no problem with Michaels or Collinsworth. Though with that Beckham catch last night, I just wanted them both to shut up.. Very nice catch (though I think I've seen better), but they made it sound like Beckham was going to head over to the water table and turn it all into wine.

He was at one time, but he has been quick to give praise.
During Dez's 1st few years, when all the media was down on Dez, saying he was a wasted pick, because of the overblown off the field issues.
Collinsworth actually stood up for Dez. Saying once he gets his issues behind him, watch out, as he could end up being one of the best.

You know Risen Star is being sarcastic?

It was a great catch, and I can understand Collinsworth (as a former receiver) gushing about it. But your water table comment was funny.

I was on the game thread throughout the entire game last night (first time I've done that) and all everyone did was rip Collinsworth and Al Michaels claiming they hate the Cowboys. Had the Cowboys lost last night this thread wouldn't exist.

In previous seasons, the Cowboys were trash yet were still be touted as America's Team. Why should have said anything nice about the team?

I'll give him credit for generally being unbiased...but the guy annoys me to no end. He might be worse than Joe Buck.

I don't know how anybody could hear anything he said last night, since he was gargling Beckham and Jennings the whole game.

He was forced to especially when they gave Romo 6 and 7 seconds to pass. That's a no brainer that he would have praised them.

But I was tired of the hype of a below average 3-7 team all night.

I've always enjoyed Collingsworth. I really liked the years FOX had him in the box along with Troy Aikman.
