Is it just me or is Chris Collinsworth a better announcer than before?

I was on the game thread throughout the entire game last night (first time I've done that) and all everyone did was rip Collinsworth and Al Michaels claiming they hate the Cowboys. Had the Cowboys lost last night this thread wouldn't exist.

not everyone...but what you say is true.

Not true. I've been thinking all season long that Collinsworth has improved. And, btw, I was not in the game thread. I watched the game DVR-delayed.

Collinsworth is the best in the business, and has been for at least a couple years.

I think CC is very good. He's a retired WR so I get his love for a great play at that position.
However his love for Beckham before, during and after the catch was a little over the top. There were a lot of other players making plays out there besides him and I think he got a little over zealous. It was like reliving Madden's man-love on Farve.
OK CC, get your head around the rest of the game and the other players too.
I found it amusing when CC said (in context) "I wonder if Eli would like to trade for Romo's Oline right now". What a back handed slap to the Gmen Oline!! Last time I looked, Gmen Olinemen weren't throwing the highballs/picks. Eli lost that game with poor passing decisions in the end and not one critical word about his choking moments. If that was Romo, Lookout.

I don't mind him but he pissed me off at the number of times he kept going back to the Beckham catch. Ok it was great but we have a great game going on here. They say there was 3452523453456 references on the net last night for that catch. Chris Colinsworth must had 3452523453450 of them.

I had to switch to DC.com radio

Last night he was beyond annoying. I think he's the most annoying announcer for the nfl right now.

I didn't see one positive post on Collinsworth or Michaels during the game thread. Everytime either of their names came up it was negative. When the Cowboys were down 21-10 in the 3rd quarter and things were looking bleak the assault on both reached it's peak. Flip through the game thread and see if you can find one positive comment on either announcer while the Cowboys were losing. Winning always lightens everyone up and when Collinsworth credited the Cowboys after the win all of a sudden he's not such a bad guy after all. lol

He was forced to especially when they gave Romo 6 and 7 seconds to pass. That's a no brainer that he would have praised them.

Isn't it a no brainer to praise Beckham's ridiculous catch?

But I was tired of the hype of a below average 3-7 team all night.

But announcers are paid to hype the game. Why would you want people to tune in if you're saying, "These Cowboys are 8-3, but the Giants suck at 3-7"?

Praise is the biggest understatement of the year. We had to hear how Beckham is pretty much the best ever and unguardable for 3 quarters. I swear you could almost hear the tears of him and Al when he got hurt. Lovely.

You could also hear how upset they were in their tone when Dallas seized control in the 4th.

One of the biased broadcasts/officiated games I've seen in awhile.

One hundred years from now, when football is played by concussion-proof replicants and pass defense has been completely outlawed by executive order from the galactic president, nobody will remember anything else from this game, but they'll still be watching that catch.

I always felt like he was one of the best.

He has such a stoner voice though lol. He sounds like a 90s surfer.

Maybe you could "hear how upset they were in their tone," but I didn't, and I seriously doubt any non-Dallas homers did.

You were "thinking it" too bad you didn't post it. I've seen mostly negative comments on Collinsworth from FANS. Personally I think he's very good and calls it like he sees it which is exactly what I do and FANS take offense to comments that don't favor the Cowboys. FANS try and spin the announcers are pulling for the other team because they're crediting them on a good play. Both Michaels and Collinsworth give the Cowboys credit when they're playing well and making good plays.

Oh, I agree.
Those that did have something to say about the commentators, had only negatives.
Plenty--including yourself--made no comment at all on the matter.

I'll give him credit for generally being unbiased...but the guy annoys me to no end. He might be worse than Joe Buck.

I don't know how anybody could hear anything he said last night, since he was gargling Beckham and Jennings the whole game.

I hate when these perverse sexual references are used when people don't like something. I'm sure everyone just about jumped out of their chair when Beckham made that catch, including Cowboy fans. Does that mean that everyone was "gargling" Beckham as well?

He's not a bad color guy, it's just when he loves something, he'll love it the whole game (used to be JPP before, now it'll be ODB). Problem for Cowboys fans, it's rarely a Cowboys player. He used to have a mild love in for Ware, but he's gone

FANS never make mention of the announcers during a game unless they have something negative to say about them especially when the Cowboys are losing. If the Cowboys are losing FANS get cranky and look to insult everyone from the announcers to fellow fans. If you give an honest opinion on a play whether you're an announcer or a fan and it's not positive you're going to be insulted. I don't mention the announcers because I don't go into games believing an announcing crew hates the Cowboys.

They all give objective opinions that's why guys like Collinsworth and Michaels are respected by their peers and have held announcing jobs for so long. Last night one Cowboy FAN claimed Beckham blatantly fouled Carr during Beckham's spectacular catch. On the replay you could clearly see Beckham going up and playing the ball while Carr was grabbing his jersey but naturally a biased Cowboy FAN claimed the PI was on Beckham. LOL
