Is it just me that believes McFadden is starting RB?

I like the signing also. With this O line and the holes they create he won't get hit until the secondary. Hopefully he still has some power and speed along with staying healthy!

Agree with you...health will be the main issue with him. .I hope McFadden still has that 2nd gear when he breaks into the open. This is what Murray lacked, especially at the end of the season and into the playoffs. He broke into the secondary and was not able to put it in 2nd gear to breakaway, that's why we said he left many yards on the field.

Darren was a stud coming into the NFL with great 4.3 speed, but he will be one of the backs, and not THE back in Dallas. And that may be to his advantage.

I like the signing just because I think it's a backup plan and he won't be with us once the regular season starts.

He's not here just because of the loss of Murray but as a backup plan in the event the Cowboys part ways with Randle.

I think the plan is to draft Murray's replacement and have McFadden take on the role Randle had last season if they decide to cut ties with him due to his off the field issues. They may start the season with a 2-3 back rotation and hope the rookie will emerge as the season develops.

Even if McFadden is our featured back, he's certainly not ready to replace Demarco in terms of carries. I'd prefer to see a 60/40 split at best to keep McFadden, a notoriously injured guy fresh, and add another element to our offense.

1.Is it just me that believes McFadden is starting RB?

2. How did he really turn out? Do we honestly know?

3. He is still young enough to be feature rb for us so why not?

I am posting this thread because I would like to know what people really think about him as a player?

Real deal answers. Backed up with real info and serious analysis?

Thanks

at face value I think he is a backup. But the unknown is really how good this OL is. If line can make McFadden look like legit starting RB then we know we have something special here in Dallas at OL. At end of day, I think Dallas hopes rookie RB can come in and just run to open space created and show ability to hand fight in hole by picking up blitzers and taking pride in that task.

Yes, this draft will be all about the defense....Gordon and Gurley will be drafted before the Boys pick..

With his falloff of production and his history of injuries, mo and mo I think it will be a running attack by committee.

He could turn out to be great, but that is one helluva gamble to make with Romo's health in the balance. The run game protects the defense, protects leads, protects the ball and perhaps more importantly than the aforementioned, it protects Romo not just from health issues but also from himself trying to win games on his own. I honestly can't see the Cowboys orginazation hinging their chances of contention and Romo's career on McFadden.

It will be interesting to see what not only Darren will do but any future drafted and the current backs can do behind this line.

We will find out soon how much was Murray and how much was that line!

Yes. Need backup and protection.

Remember though... Murray wasn't reliable until contract year. When he was hurt. Other RB had to step up.

I think the overall infatuation to replace murray makes every move his "replacement".

im one of the ones who hated hearing 10x daily convos about McFadden coming out of college in much the same light I view Peterson these days. how many frigging times can you say the same thing on how you feel before you just go "I'm out"? apparently my threshold is much less than many and I tend to irritate those who love the convo. :)

I don't watch many reruns and we're long since past the point where anyone says much new about it but yet...

I think it's pretty obvious we're not going to spend big $ on a RB. we let a damn good one get away so I don't see how logic can dictate that we'll go for another. we have a value at the position and anyone above it we simply won't bring in. that's the message I got through it. I am thankful there seems to be a LOT LESS of the "well jones loves his shiney objects!!!" being bantered about cause those seldom came through yet people said them just the same.

I think McFadden will come in and we'll see what he has. he's not a FA prize and to be honest given his stats, I'm not even sure he'll make it out of training camp. so no, I don't pencil him in as anything but a $200k camp body to be honest.

Williams got $240k so to use money paid as your guide make sure you throw that in.

I don't think the trip for RBs is over. I see underoo boy getting another chance. I don't care if dunbar is on the sidelines or slinging fries, we've seen him at his best and I don't remember it. there is a good possibility that we see some good, solid back get cut around June 1 and we'll revisit. we'll also know what we've gotten after the draft. I think making any HE'S THE STARTER comments is just to talk but I get it.

I just don't agree. I don't think we're sold on a starter and there's a good chance that player isn't on the team yet.

He most assuredly will and probably starting until our rookie gains "trust" from Garrett.
