He sure is. Nobody else can do as many things at an elite level as him. Donald was that guy, it's Parsons turn now

Aaron Donald is still the best defensive player in the league. One can make the case Parsons is #2

TJ Watt is #2 (might even be #1). With TJ Watt in for Steelers they ranked 1 in sacks like 4 years straight, since he's been out, they are ranked dead last in the league. He is that Steelers D and he elevates everyone around him. Also he was DPOY in 2021.

Yes he is.

Nobody has played better since Parsons entered the league.

It depends on what you value most in a defensive player.

I believe him to be the best pass rusher and backfield disrupter in the NFL, but he's pretty average is run defense and coverage.

If you value pass rushing and disruption in the backfield (I do), then he is the best defensive player in the NFL.

No other defensive player in the league
Except for, you know, the guy that beat him out for DPOY last season. But do go on.

You mean the guy who hasn’t played the last 6 weeks?

Nobody has been better than Parsons over the past season and a half since he entered the league.

TJ Watt isn’t making this play.

Yes, injuries happen. Parsons has also been dinged up, he'll eventually hit his stretch of missing games at some point too especially with how often we move him around at his size. Simple fact is, you said NOBODY is better than him since entering the league - except for the guy who had 22.5 sacks last year and won DPOY or Aaron Donald who helped his team to a Super Bowl victory last season.

Yes, and when Parsons misses games that will rightfully count against him when it comes to determining who the best defensive player is.

Nobody has been better over the last 24 games, which is what I was referring to, since Parsons entered the league.

Except TJ Watt performed better last season

Again, not what you said - you said nobody was better than him since entering the league. TJ Watt was, by far, the better defensive player in 2021. Maybe Parsons gets to that level one day, simple fact is, TJ Watt is an absolute force that has elevated that Steelers defense and had them ranked near the top for consecutive seasons now.

Parsons is having a great season, but I also would like to point out: Parsons talked a lot of crap, especially about Hurts - saying he was on his "hit list" - in the Eagles game he not only had 0 sacks but 0 QB hits in that game. He failed his own test, and he didn't have a very good game. He also started to slow down at the end of last season and wasn't the same player in those final 4 games he played in. I want you folks to be consistent, if Ware got criticized for "not showing up in big games" then Parsons sure as heck better get the same treatment.

He just might be.

If I had to choose, I’d still go Donald but Micah is catching up fast. Plus what his drive and will to win does for the rest of the defense is huge.

If the question was would I trade him for any other defender, the answer would be no. I’d take Micah.

When I said nobody has been better than Parsons since entering the league I meant over that span Parsons has been the best player.

If there was an award for NFL Defensive Player Of The Last Season And A Half, Parsons would win.

TJ Watt wouldn’t win because he hasn’t played the last 6 weeks. And 5 voters already thought Parsons was better than Watt last year even though Parsons was only a rookie.

Donald wouldn’t win since he finished behind Parsons in last year’s voting, and Parsons is having a better season so far this year.

Was a no show against the 49ers in the post-season, was a near no-show against the Eagles. He also wasn't dominant today either and saw him get stood up a couple times.

He could be the best defensive player in the league one day. But he's not there yet. Every single player on this defense has a lot to prove still after what they allowed against the Eagles.

I think you want to sew it for a few seasons before cementing that claim. Parsons in the 49ers game wasn't as effective, but was just coming off covid and needed oxygen to stay in the game. In the Eagles game they did a good against him in getting him to have to drop into coverage when also having to worry about Hurts. However, he hit his stride in the 2nd half. The last game against the Lions didn't he closeout the game with a sack?

A good sign... I think he was injured in all three of those games.

I'm pretty sure he got concussed early in the game against SF. And obviously he's not 100% right now.

the DPOY aware is heavily weighted toward performance toward the end of the year. If someone is outplaying him down the stretch and is on a better team, they could easily take the award.

I mean, TJ Watt already go an award for a huge chunk of those "Nobody has played better than Parsons" - DPOY. So 18 games out of those 24 have gone to TJ Watt. So yeah, it takes Watt being sidelined for Parson's to take the top spot. Congratulations? Now if only Parsons doesn't ghost when we need him the most. That's his next step. As I said, this is the expectations this board created with the criticisms they gave to Ware.

If you think Parsons has been ghosting I don’t know what to tell you my friend.

Well the thing is, TJ Watt actually played at a high level the entire season. It wasn't some final stretch bias.

NO but one of the best, whos #1, that's all up for debate,. other ballers around the Legue having great seasons. they al can lay claim to that , lest play the rest of the schedule and see how it shakes out. IDC what he wins as long as its playoff games and deeper playoff run.. all these accolades are tiresome. yes we have a great defense, not perfect but overall, a top 3 NFL defense.

we need to play all season, no gimees , toughest division in football right now. lets play see what happens, vote for awards in February,

I say he's at least in the conversation. And very much may be. As disruptive as he his, I feel he is a big reason the defense is balling out like it is.
I think right now you have to say yes. His impact is even greater than just the sack and pressure numbers and he is in the top 3 for both categories.
