Is Micah really on the level of Lawrence Taylor?

Ive been hearing/seeing this a lot lately.

To the older fans out there that have seen both play in real-time, is Micah on his level?

Hard for me to believe that Micah is on a trajectory to be the GOAT defensive player.

I don't think he's on the same level as LT, but his play says that he's close enough to say that he's in the vicinity.

These first two games, the answer is undoubtedly yes. The thing with LT was it was literally constant disruption all game every game. Parsons has been just that so far this year but has to do it week after week without any let ups.

I watched LT play and Micah is faster and more versatile. I'm not saying Micha is better overall but he is faster and impacts the game from more positions. LT was more aggressive hitting the QB but that was a different era when the QB was fair game.

Obviously, he has to keep it up a while, but absolutely he is. Similar demeanor on the field and every bit the play wrecker. Without the cocaine.

Quinn is using him beautifully, too. Those guys are having a blast.
imagine him ON coke lol

Spears was literally 3 when LT played his last game. So, he is hardly the guy who should be making such proclamations. I like Micah, but I saw LT and they aren’t the same.
hmm who's judgement to trust? the guy who played at the highest level and is paid handsomely to commentate, or someone who witnessed it time appropriately.

Micah is playing on LT's level. I saw LT his whole career. I still have PTSD from it
Also, if you remember LT played with Carl Banks on the other side of that 3-4 defense, giving him more opportunities. Not to mention Jim Burt at NT, Leonard Mashall at DE, and Pepper Johnson at ILB. Taylor wasn't all alone either in creating havoc.

To the OP:

I saw both play. Short answer? Maybe.
The Cowboys have never had a defensive player like this. Ever.

LT was so disruptive for years and Micah is trending that way for now.

What is clear:

He is by far the most versatile and dangerous defender in the game. Micah Parsons is an action figure straight from comic books come to life.

Unblockable.
I'm actually trying not to homer out on this, but his play is simply freakish.

And the good thing is, I saw Quinn smartly giving him some plays/series off. Keep him fresh, which we failed to do w/ Ware.

I watched LT. I don't know if he's on that level because LT is on a level that I'm not sure anyone will ever get to.

He is however the only player I've seen since that can effect every single down he plays on defense, and change a game on his own on a nearly every Sunday basis..

He doesn't have the absolute raw terrible power and vicious play of Taylor though. Taylor literally put fear and terror into the people he played against, not just because he was so good, but because you were afraid he'd tear you apart if he got his hands on you.

Most responding to this aren't even old enough to have watched LT.

I am. The answer is no.
But the Giants had a group of 3 very strong linebackers and that was the elevator for full opportunities.

Parsons has the physical strength and his physical side will continue to grow. He has top end skills to call upon. Parsons matches this type of defensive scheme perfectly.
