Is Micah really on the level of Lawrence Taylor?

Ive been hearing/seeing this a lot lately.

To the older fans out there that have seen both play in real-time, is Micah on his level?

Hard for me to believe that Micah is on a trajectory to be the GOAT defensive player.

Nothing against Parsons, who is a hell of a player, he is not LT. He is more like a Derrick Thomas, another hall of famer.

When the other team's whole offensive game plan is centered around him. Yeah, he's there.

Micah is definitely better than Haley and Ware. White i never watched so i dunno
He probably will surpass them and i hope so, but those guys were legit game wreckers too, theyre in the HoF for a reason. Was just saying weve had some incredible defensive players before Parsons, and thank god Garrett isnt here anymore to waste him.

LT had bigger shoulder pads, a real linebacker jersey number and that cool jangly earring. So .. Micah not there yet.

He's not at mid 80s peak LT level. Thats essentially perfection as an EDGE/LB. So if that is the comparison, no. But with that said, Micah is on his way. The sky is the limit. We're lucky to have him.

Yes but he needs to do this consistently and in big games. Playoffs Taylor would ride to even another level. We will wait and see. He has the talent and drive.

I love it when he lines up as the left DT and does that swim move past the center before he gets out of his stance. That caused a pick in both games. Wilson was so nervous he didn't even see Kearse with that raptor breathing down his neck. Threw it right to him.

Ditto here.

Taylor changed the NFL game to the 2 TE sets in order to have a chance at double teaming him.

As dynamic a pass rusher as he is, I do not see Parsons' as an "evolutionizer " that changes the NFL game.
L. Taylor with the 2 TE offense,..or Bob Hayes with the zone coverages instead of man coverage...

And we've had guys like Deion Sanders, Reggie White, Michael Strahan, Bruce Smith
and even locally with Haley & Dware, all who've never been in NFL MVP serious talk,
but Micah is gonna surpass them as the exceptional to the rule ?

Frankly I will definitely indeed see Micah's name in the mix as Defensive NFL MVP
ala Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, Stephen Gilmore, etc. but not NFL MVP.
Not even being a very popular Cowboys (per America's Team) will change it to NFL MVP for Parsons, imo.

In a passing league of today's era, the QBs will always be looked at first and foremost.
Mahomes, Hurts, L. Jackson, D. Watson, Purdy .. (Dak ?)

BTW, .Can anyone remember a FG kicker actually once being named NFL MVP ?
Great posts, both of you. Gibbs created the H back just to try and slow down LT. And LT was a Washington Killer

One of my sports buds claims Pujols is not one of the best hitters of all time. Don't let glorifying the past blind you to the present.

LT had 8.5 sacks in 15 playoff games. No, he did not "always" take over games. That's the view if you watch a ton of highlights and don't watch the game.

Micah is an absolute, over the top, stud, all time great...but no he isn't. LT was the best ever. The way the guy destroyed double teams and even beat triple teams was insane. Micah is better so far this year than he was last year. So maybe he keeps getting better and gets to LTs level, but that's a tall order. But, through two weeks I think he is the league MVP and that's pretty amazing.

Reggie White was better.

Time will tell. As far as early in his career, he’s the closest I’ve ever seen to LT. He’s a game wrecker and a playmaker.

Most responding to this aren't even old enough to have watched LT.

I am. The answer is no.
I watched Taylor and I think your only half right. The league was different in the 80's in terms of what type of physicality was allowed, so some of those nasty LT sacks/hits would get flagged in today's NFL. LT was nasty but Micah right now is just as disruptive to a defense as LT was. A couple of short videos below...they look a lot like the same player to me.

Micah is a beast but LT he in not,LT was a crazy mean sob who hated the opponent, Micah doesn't have the mean streak LT played with.
