First, I don't have kids, so your question is completely hypothetical... second, my mutt has never bitten anybody, never even growled at anybody...
But to answer your hypothetical, absolutely NOT... kids can be rough on dogs, and if they got rough enough to make the mutt turn around and bite them, then my approach would be to scold the dog, then sit the little one down and explain why she needs to be gentler when playing with the dog...
However, it might be different if I had a dog that was quick to bite a child, that bit kids repeatedly... but I kinda doubt that would happen, if only because of the way I raise my pets... I've had 3 dogs over the last 30 years, and none of them has ever bitten anybody (and one of them, Bear, was a Chow mix, a breed known to be a bit aggressive)...
Again, my dog is a part of my family... if I had a little girl, she'd be a more important part, but I wouldn't get rid of a part of my family...
