Look at the Cowboy running back group in 1989:

Paul Palmer
Broderick Sargent
Junior Tautalatasi
Darryl Clack
Kevin Scott
Daryl Johnston
I think Hambrick went for almost 200 yards vs Washington once. Just sayin.

We have two backs that are completely out of gas in Elliott and Cook. And two backs who have done next to nothing in the NFL. We are at a point where Rico Dowdle is our best hope to have an adequate every down back

Is it possible we have one of the worst HB groups of all time. I honestly cant remember a worse group anywhere
I remember Alonzo Highsmith and Paul Palmer, that was pretty bad. I also remember Doug Dennison leading the team with 500 yards one year.

Just today I was perusing your lamentations over a nice lunch of jalapeno watercress sandwiches.
And today still me good eye caught a news tidbit.
A fullback I believe, Carson Steele has made the roster of the Chiefs.
The lad had a 7.9 ypc in the preseason.

He was also undrafted. Considered more of a FB, but definitely can run the ball. So if he was on our team or brain trust would only let him block.

We are already have one of those with Hunter.

I wouldn't say historically bad, but will end up in the bottom five of the NFL when it's all said and done. The RB corp is probably as bad as the WR group the year Jerruh & Stevie got desperate and traded for Amari Cooper.

Remember GM Jethro thinks it is a passing league.

A case could be made that it could be one of their best running back rooms as well.

If zeke is in shape
If Calvin is in shape and regains form.
Deuce shows his potential.
Doodle keeps on getting netter.

it's just as likely as they are the worst in history.

Dowdle and Dalvin lmao they're going to be nowhere near worse than history in 64 years of NFL football, this place uses that term far too loosely as if they somehow remember every team's roster going back 100 years to remember this has got to be historically bad UGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Historically bad is terrible term no one in here could possibly know this ,

I agree, like I said, there is way more of a chance that this committee looks fabulous than historically bad. Zeke really wasn't bad for the amount of touches he got last year, and I still think Dalvin could surprise... Duece is the interesting one because he could take that next step and be an absolute handful. I think people are also underestimating dowdle and his growth.

Well technically the next step for deuce Vaughn is more touches a lot more opportunities, he was not utilized properly and neither was Turpin and neither was the actual running back by committee last year... So this really is going to rely on Mike McCarthy creating and using the right running back for the right plays and getting into the right play call to make the run game successful I don't think they did that last year it seemed quite backwards from what the way they should have handled the carries.....

Possibly but excellent OL play could bail them out. The Cowboys are counting on a lot of things to fall their way for this run game to show improvement, but its certainly possible.
We also have two rookies on the OL. It's not like these guys are running behind Smith-Leary-Frederick-Martin-Free.
