He's not getting cut yet. But when he gets cut, that's when he won't be on the team anymore.

Stephen Tulloch was just released by DET...he could be a cheap 2 down stop-gap

I would take 16 games from him over a possible 6 from McClain

I wonder if people realize that if RoMc gets cut, there is a 99% chance he is still available Week 11 IF he stays clean and in shape

I know I realize it. And want him gone, just the same. Mostly because he cannot be trusted to stay clean or in shape.

No interest in Tulloch, though.

I get all the hyperbole about can he, can't he/should they, shouldn't they. Cut him.
But it's just become so disappointing that they - the Cowboys front office - wont appear to do anything, or even release a statement or anything.
Yes, I believe they knew before it was announced, probably part of why he was really away from the team. The fact that this is now just dragging on in limbo is so disappointing. How do they not feel the mood of their fanbase, who is getting sick of this bulls--- !
It's been hashed over a million ways from Sunday, but I am more disappointed in their lack of - anything than at McClain himself. This franchise has had and has some great players (and some shady ones). And yes, Jerry will always be a wildcatter at heart. But when these mistakes are made, how can they not understand the immense repercussions to their team/players and their fanbase in general. I supported bringing Hardy in, and I also supported getting rid of him. We learned he was not a good teammate and was not worth the trouble he bought with him. So how is this any different ? How will the young players ever be held accountable for their actions if McClain is not jettisoned from the team ? I thought when we signed him, we may have found one of those great reclamation projects, as his talent is undeniable. However, in my opinion, his lack of accountability precludes his talent.

I have a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, and hope this is not going to be another downward spiral for this franchise.
Get ahold of your team and your players Jerry ! I implore you !

There, I feel better now ....

I would say I am more concerned about what they ultimately do not how any of this effects the fans and their feelings. Dallas does not have to jump up and make a move this second. They can weigh their options at this point in time. I would agree the clock is ticking as camp approaches if the Cowboys do have an interest in a vet LB or if they choose to stand pat with players they have and of course if they do plan on cutting Ro. Fact is fans concerns are not a part of any of this, if Dallas wins fans will be happy if they lose fans will be mad

I think the answer to the question asked in this thread is no. I think he will still be around late in the season and they will try to play him.

has there even been a statement, from the Cowboys organization or even Ro, on these turn of events?

What's the financials here? Is it less expensive to cut him now? Ow wait til camp or when he comes back? Can you cut a player while suspended?

Ravens cut Will Hill after failing a drug test and being handed a 10 game suspension, so evidently the Cowboys can cut him.

Good point. Seemed like it was simultaneously though. Maybe there is some loophole. But we do know we knew about this looming suspension before the hammer was dropped.

Let me clarify a bit - as I do agree with you.
My point about the fans is this - as the banner franchise for the NFL (most popular) with fan-base's in Mexico, Europe etc. And by far the most profitable, Shouldn't they be concerned with the disconnect many of us are feeling right now ?
Yes, we love our team and always will. But it seems almost universal with fans and media alike that this should not be tolerated, and McClain needs to go. Now, Jerry will and can do whatever he likes, but he has to have his finger on the pulse of his team and fandom. We = $.
That aside, I want the young players to know this is not acceptable - and there are severe consequences for their actions. Garrett, and staff and the Jones must also be held to a high standard.
When they make these risky calls on players, if it does not work out - like Hardy, like Ro. CUT BAIT.

No they should be concerned about winning. Fans ultimately care about winning. If at the end of the season it is successful no one is going to care about this soap opera taking place, it will be history. However you lose and of course all bets are off as fans attack anything and everything.

As for We? We can choose to pull for the Cowboys or not that is our choice. Does it mean revenue loss if enough fans were to leave the fan base? sure but teams are making more money off TV contracts than ever before and of course as soon as the team is winning many will flock by to the Cowboys claiming they stuck with them regardless if they did or didn't. Ultimately Cowboys organization will do as they choose not ruled by fans but then most teams do the same thing.

Ro was paid a 750k signing bonus and has a 3.3m cap charge based on LTBE incentives

If DAL cut him today, which they can for salary cap purposes, they will save 2.5m immediately and may be able to pursue 10/16ths of that signing bonus...that would bring the savings to over 3m

Teams can't explicitly cut a player for failing a drug test but they can be cut for any other normal reason

Teams routinely cut players that are facing criminal suspensions...the Ravens cut Ray Rice during his original 2 game suspension in 2014 and the 49ers waived Aldon Smith before he got a one year suspension last year

He is not technically suspended until the Tuesday before Week One.....he can practice during TC and play in all the preseason games....they could cut for any number of reasons beyond failing the drug test

They will save the other money anyway whether they cut him or not.
They dont really "save" any money by cutting him, except what they would pay him for the last 6 games if he stays.
