Oh, sorry. Thought the thread title was "Is Romo a Hall of Fame QB?". Meaning I would provide my opinion as to is he or isn't he.

Didn't know I needed to bring anything to the table other than a few facts.

And him winning a Super Bowl, as unlikely as it is, is still not getting him in. Again, even with him winning one, compare his Awards with Gannons. No comparison.

You're projecting your fantasies into real life again. Just because you get down on your knees and pray every night for Romo to fail, doesn't mean it will come true. If he wins a Super Bowl he has a chance of getting in, which is clearly obvious by looking at the enshrined QBs that are there. The next fact you bring to the table will be the first.

I don't know if this has ever been debated, but is he or isn't he?

This has been debated several times and Romo is not a future HOF QB it's a silly debate that only comes up on Cowboy FAN boards. His career playoff record is only 1-3 and he hasn't led the Cowboys to the playoffs in 4 years. Statistically he's never led the league in any category and several of his peers out produce him every season. On the all-time passing list he currently ranks 42nd with 8 current QB's ranked ahead of him.

He hasn't had near the playoff success or the numbers to even sniff the HOF. Plus he doesn't have nearly a good enough team around him at this stage in his career to add playoff wins and a championship to his resume. For a QB to make the HOF they have to have either great career numbers (at least top 10) or a solid playoff record that includes multiple championships. At 34 coming off 2 back surgeries Romo's best days are likely behind him. If his career ended today he'll be remembered as a productive regular season QB who couldn't get it done in the make or break games.

He's never going to be able to shake the stigma he has playing on a dysfunctional mediocre team that depends on him having to play great every week for them to win. Romo is playing in an era where at least 4 of his peers (Peyton Manning, Brees, Brady and Rodgers) are all locks for the HOF. Romo's only chance at the HOF would be to add a couple of championships to his resume but unfortunately the Cowboys don't have near the cohesiveness or the coaching for that to ever happen.

Parcells shared Landry's rule for player development once. If a player was on his team for three years and did not improve, he replaced them with a younger player. It's now been twice that long, and Romo has been good, but definitely not HoF great. If anything, he is the AntiBrady. He's as good as he is ever going to be.

I've never wished for him to fail, he's just found ways to do that all by himself...no help from me or my prayers.

He's an ok QB that's been in a very pass happy offense. Right now, he's Jake Delhomme. If he makes a couple All Pro Teams, Wins a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP...he's Rich Gannon. Either way, he's not ever going into the HOF.

But you cant take away from what Staubach and Aikman did either, they were very talented and deserving of the HOF, I would say more talented than Romo. They benefited from great team but they were also a big part of the reason the Cowboys won those championships.

no way.

both guys are Cowboy Gods..

I really hope Romo gets a complete team to work with before his career ends.

I actually agree with you. That includes coaching staff and front office, as well as players. Would be nice to see what Romo could do with a really good team, top to bottom.

2 low scoring games, that his Defense helped win. He got the MVPs but they could have very easily gone to someone else.

He was "clutch". That is above and beyond a defense doing its job.

Eli had two opportunities and went right into the bank and cashed them in!!!

Fact!

I hate those facts, as a New Yorker, but they are the facts... Like it or not.

He's been a part of pretty damn good teams in the past, just couldn't get over the hump.

No, not really. The only team that I thought was decent was that 2007 team and even then, I didn't really think they were good enough to win it all. I can't say I agree that he's been on good teams, top to bottom. In fact, I'd say he's never been on a really good team, top to bottom.

Yeah 13-3 home field throughout the playoff, I'd say that they were decent.

Tony will be the one to induct his BFF Jason when Jason gets his votes.

Tony is not one of the best of the best. Those are the HOF guys.

Perhaps. We only beat beat 4 teams with winning records that year. Giants, Green Bay, Washington and Philly. Of those 4 teams, Washington and Philly also beat us and the Giants, as we all know, eliminated us from the playoffs in the 1st Rd.

I'm really not sure how good that team was. I don't think they were bad but I also don't think they were as good as a lot of people thought they were. They went 1-3 in their final four games.
