10th ballot right there along with Alex Smith, Matt Ryan, and Chad Hutchison.
really you lost credibility when you added Chad H..he had good enough to own all OUR records here and that against two HOF QBS that came before him..he lacks big time Playoff run and a SB..

Hes good enough to be considered and really unfair because hes every bit as good as ELI but ELI had better team that got him 2 SBs and Eli will be in.. Stats and talent room deserves it but no hardware will keep him just short of it...

Romo was very under appreciated here but he was GREAT..not just good, maybe not Elite but nither was a lot of QBS who won SBs with better teams around them..

Just because I think this is an interesting discussion...

Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees are all locks.

After that, it's pretty much a toss up between Romo, Rivers, and Roethlisberger (all of whom I think are better players than Brees, personally), but I don't see how one can get in without the others getting in.
You can’t compare Ben to Romo.

Ones been to as many AFC championship games as Romo has playoffs

Cowboys Zone tells me he’s a top 5 quarterback along the likes of SUPERBOWL winners like Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Ben, and Manning.

Will the all time great Romo be in the hall of fame?

Or is he just Andy Dalton 2.0 a career loser?
Romo and Rivers wont make the HoF. Doesn't matter what their stats say because they wont have hardware to go along with it. Personally I think both had the talent...Romo couldnt stay healthy long enough to get a ring.....and Rivers just cant get right.

They already have guys like Eli and Ben in the HOF...

Also, seems like Rivers is also getting a push to be one. So, I see no reason why Romo can’t get in.

Eli and Ben might get in because of Superbowl wins. Even though there defenses where a big reason why they won those Superbowls. In the end, Eli still gets credited for "beating" Brady twice in the Superbowl. Even though the Giants D had more to do with the Superbowl wins than Eli did.

If Rivers is a HOF, then Romo is.

And yes, I have heard people staying Rivers is one - which is odd, because he and Romo had very very similar careers.

The book on Rivers hasn't been completely written yet. This season will be the 6th season Rivers will have been to the playoffs and he's already been to 1 championship game (2007).

Romo never got beyond the divisional round and arguably Romo has had much better talent than Rivers has had in his career.

I don't 100% buy into the Romo Rivers comparison.

The stats say yes.

Team results during his tenure say no.

I don't think he gets in.
And There within lies the crux of the proposed matter in question,,,o_O,,,#9 is all time FRANCHISE "PASSER" record holder(truth be told, that fact shall still remain long after our current class of 30 something fellow member have long since stopped SUCKIN' AIR& GONE COUNTRY, TOO!o_O)

I didn't realize Rivers was done.

If we wins a Superbowl this year, he won't make the HoF?

He could get in if his popularity on television "rewrites" his football history or paints in into a more sympathetic light.
But he's going to be judged by his contemporaries (Peyton and Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Phillip Rivers), and that's going to hurt him.

Super Bowl wins are a team stat.

Talent-wise, it depends who else gets in. He probably won't, but there's no way you can make a case for Eli to get in but not Tony.
Yes, you can. His Super Bowl rings, and his play leading up to and in the Super Bowl. It's the Hall of FAME not the Hall of Stats.
If you have contributed stats and have contributed significant moments to the game, especially at the highest level, the voters will select you.
Despite his current production, Eli made plays in the big games leading up to the Super Bowl and in the Super Bowl. And he's a Manning.
He will get in over Romo.

Ya,that PHILLIP RIVERS is pretty good & still hitting that Big Cat stride of savvy footballish strike capabilities ,approaching the Master Class tier of peers

Rivers has a chance to prove himself this season. If he gets the Chargers to the Super Bowl, I think he gets in.

You wanna bet? I’ll bet you Rivers makes it. For some reason, the media, players, and fans love him despite being far more of a choker than Romo ever was.

I guess having 9 kids before your mid thirties gets you a ton of love in the NFL.

He wont. Saw the kid play in HS and honestly never thought he would make it this far with his unorthodox throwing motion; so Im cheering for him. But its always something; he just cant get right.

Except folks are saying Rivers is one NOW.

And no one makes the HOF because they made a championship game. Get this crap out of here

QBs make the HOF due to crazy stats or Super Bowl rings.

Examples

Marino for stats
Aikman for rings

Rivers won’t get in because he made some championship games. That’s not how it works.
