ill ask this with a question:

Is he better than Brady, Brees or Rodgers? If yes then he is, if not then no....you have to be top 2-3 in your era to have consideration and i dont think he was...simple as that.

Great player, but not HOF
not true about having to be top 2-3 of your era. Look at all the QB's that played in the 70's that are in: Staubach, Bradshaw, Namath, Stabler, Griese, Tarkenton, Dawson, Starr. And the 80-90's: Aikman, Elway, Favre, Marino, Montana, Kelly, Fouts, Moon.

I think Romo was a better QB than several that are already in. Was he at top 2-3 qb when he played? No, but that doesn't mean he isn't a hall of famer. For the record, I think he's a long shot to get in.

So? They don't just take one quarterback from an era. He is slowly amassing the passing numbers. If he gets to the Super Bowl, he's likely in. He has more yards than Warren Moon, who doesn't have a ring and likely will surpass Eli Manning and Dan Marino. I don't know yet if he'll get in or not and neither do you. But he has the numbers. Right now, maybe he doesn't get in the Hall of Fame. He gets in the Super Bowl, his chances are higher he gets in. If he wins the Super Bowl, I predict he gets in no questions.
Dan was transcending player. Warren would have likely had all the records if he had not been stereotyped into the CFL. Eli beat Tom Brady twice in the Superbowl.

Yea you are right IF Rivers gets a ring that will improve his chances.....I just dont think he will ever get one. Especially when you consider the talent he has played with over the years including this season. There are no built on excuses of never played with a great defense or never had a great running game. And again you cant ignore that he was supposed to be the savior which pushed Drew Brees out the door and Drew not only won a Superbowl with the Saints but is now in the argument of greatest ever. Just my opinion.

Eli didn't play well in those Super Bowls.
In the 2007 game, he had a higher passer rating than Brady, threw for 11 yards less than Brady, threw more touchdowns than Brady and had a signature moment where he alluded a sack and threw a prayer that was caught by David Tyree, which was voted the best catch in Super Bowl history.
In the 2011 game, his passer rating was better than Brady's and threw for more yardage.
Besides, who's going to remember all that anyway. They remember the Tyree catch and the Burress game-winning touchdown.

Fair enough.

Current ranking for all-time passing leaders

1. Drew Brees, 74,111
2. Peyton Manning 71,940
3. Brett Favre 71,838
4. Tom Brady 70,138
5. Dan Marino 61,361
6. Ben Roethlisberger 55,527
7. Eli Manning, 55,371
8. Philip Rivers, 54,299
9. John Elway, 51,475
10. Warren Moon, 49,325

Rivers is ranked eighth on the all-time passing list. He's above Warren Moon (who doesn't have a Super Bowl ring nor played in a Super Bowl). If he plays two to three more years, he'll overtake Dan Marino (who doesn't have a Super Bowl ring), and he'll likely pass Eli Manning, who appears to be on his last leg.

His championship game will be a factor (remember, he played with a torn ACL, which factors into his lore) along with his stats. If he gets to a Super Bowl this year, he's a definite Hall of Famer.

Favre was a 3x MVP with incredible stats
Manning multiple MVP
Brady multiple Super Bowls, multiple MVP
Elway 2x Super Bowl champ
Marino has gaudy stats, like Brees

Nobody thinks of either Manning or Big Ben for their passing yards - manning is known to be a mediocre QB who had two great Super Bowl runs.

Rivers is not getting in on passing yards alone. He will get in due to 2 things 1. Media love affair 2. Super Bowl ring

Romo would have been a HOF as well if he had a Super Bowl ring despite his pass yard total at the end of his career.

Cowboys Zone tells me he’s a top 5 quarterback along the likes of SUPERBOWL winners like Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Ben, and Manning.

Will the all time great Romo be in the hall of fame?

Or is he just Andy Dalton 2.0 a career loser?
He is far better than Eli Manning who won two super bowls on miracles, and who will probably get in. Had Romo won 1 super bowl he probably would be a likely HOFer even if not first ballet. Without one I think the Ring of Honor is going to be Romo's legacy.

Then why was Eli named Super Bowl MVP in both games? Maybe you’re thinking of Peyton. He didn’t play well in both his Super Bowl wins but neither did the opposing QBs Rex Grossman and Cam Newton. Super bowls usually come down to the play of the QB which is why QBs have been named Super Bowl MVP more than any other position.

C'mon. Aaron Hernandez is infamous for an off-the-field issue.

With all due respect, this comment makes no sense at all. EVERYTHING a player does on a TEAM is a TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENT!!! This isn't boxing or MMA.
By your standard, no one would be in the Hall of Fame.
Well, define fame. You said it was the hall of Fame.

Eli sucks, he has always sucked, and the fact that he has two rings and Marino has 0 is exactly why team accomplishments shouldn't mean anything for HoF. The Super Bowl logic always, always falls apart talking about Marino.

It should absolutely be the Hall of Stats, and those stats should be defined by per play and per year, except for OL. The HoF should be cut down by about 75%.

No, he’s more of a Don Merideth type. Ring of honor but not HOF.

If he started and played more than 8 or 9 season he’d probably have had a better shot . 15 -20 years with his stat line might have been enough even without winning a championship.

Injuries were his undoing missing big chunks in 2010 and 2015. In reality he only played 7 full seasons in 2007,08,09,11,12,13& 14. And missed the finales in 08 and 13 which we lost both preventing us from playoffs.

Only seasons we missed the playoffs when he was standing was 2011 and 12 with a couple of the most futile defenses in Cowboy history.

One of the most remarkable careers for an undrafted QB in NFL history. Probably only HOFamers Kurt Warner and Warren Moon had greater ones.

B/c they didn't want to give it to the entire Giants DL. He didn't deserve either one.

I don't think he gets in because of the team's he was on. I do think he should be though. Big Ben will get in and Romo was absolutely the better player. Ben was just on better teams. They won that first Superbowl in spite of him not because of him.

You’re an Eli hater. He came through with clutch 4th quarter throws in both games. Had that been Romo you would be singing a completely different tune.

So, he still played bad. I remember in 2007 all the INTs that the Pats dropped. I remember in 2011 when all he did was dink and dunk and allow the Giants defense to dictate it. His signature moment was a miracle...not good QB play.

If you think Eli "won" those games then you also think Dak won the game against the Saints. It's the same thing. Eli sucks. He shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. He will be, b/c Super Bowls, and that is stupid.

I think he belongs in the Hall of Fame, but only barely. And I say that as one of the biggest Romo fans you'll find here or anywhere.

I wouldn't go that far. Impact is a qualification for induction.

Winning championships does matter. It’s not everything but without the career or record breaking stats it does place you in a more elite status especially for QB’s.

I do agree Marino is much more deserving than an Eli who I don’t believe is a lock to get in,

The first was a miracle catch, the second was a good throw.

I do hate Eli. He sucks. He was on a team that won two Super Bowls despite the fact that he sucks because they had a dominant defense. Without the chuck and pray, we aren't talking about him.

I don't think so. I honestly don't even feel Eli is one. Eli may get in but he shouldn't even with the 2 rings. Romo didn't have many post season appearances and his career was derailed by injuries. When it was time to make the playoffs this team either didn't or Romo got hurt.

If Romo gets in.........you pretty much have to let everyone from the Flacco's to the Matthew Staffords and the Matt Ryan's in among others. Matthew Stafford doesn't belong in anyones hall of fame.

If Romo keeps doing what he's doing as a announcer...he may very well get in someday because of that. But I don't see it solely for his playing career. But Jerry will put him in the ROH.
