On Mike & Mike Ray Lewis was asked about Tony Romo in the context of the "Romo is like Lebron" comment. He said "it takes a team to win a Super Bowl, no one man can do it by himself." He did refer to some of Tony's costly mistakes in the past but overall it was a complimentary tone. Im sensing that Tony is getting a lil more love in the media than usual.

Sadly many of our own fans can't see the obvious and wants Romo gone, smh.

There are 32 NFL teams with perhaps 15-18 QBs who are quality QBs who can take the team to the playoffs. NFL has shortage of Good to great QBs and there is no guarantee that we can replace Romo with similar talent or better, odds are not good, imo.

Look at that. Ray Lewis coming out and stating the obvious that any person with even a minor amount of football knowledge should have already known.

Football is a team game after all....who would have thought that?

Take the best QB in his prime ever (whether you think that is Montana, Staubach, Elway, Manning, etc.) and put him as the QB on any college team (even Alabama) and have him play Jacksonville with the mighty Blaine Gabbert as QB, and Jacksonville would win every time. It's not all about the QB. The other players matter as well. The other 21 starters > QB. Some just can't seem to comprehend that though.

He did more than refer to his costly mistakes, it was a major component of what he was saying. That he looks good for 3 quarters of the game and then he makes those plays where you say "no, no you cant do that".

Ok two problems here:

1. Ray won first Super Bowl with his defense. So it wasn't a "team" win or "team" effort. About a month ago.

Ray said something(with Dilfer right next to him) to the effect. Dilfer wasn't going to win us a Super Bowl and we knew it so our defense had to do it" paraphrasing of course. But you had to see Dilfers face. Felt bad for him.

2. It is becoming popular sentiment that Romo and cowboys are "winning it" because:
- Romo has always been on bad teams
- wrong route running, players not winning their "individual match ups" are the reason we haven't advanced further in playoffs or won a Super Bowl.

Romo has to stay course. Furthermore, if we are going to use reason #2 then we need to put in cafe plays that are of a higher percentage success rate NOT dependent on timing or running EXACT route.

It's funny because in a weird way, I think it's the opposite, ROMO, not any of the ones you mentioned, would give those teams the best chance to win.

Agreed, it takes a team to win. However; can a QB cost you a game?

Bad plays can cost you be it Romo throwing an int or defense giving up a late lead, a FG kicker missing a last second FG. Romo shares in this but no one takes the blame as much as Romo has not all of it justified.

Such is the life of an NFL QB, and it's amplified being the QB for America's Team.

I get that all I would say is because that tends to be the mindset does not mean I have to buy into it. People love talking about being realist yet not many are. Reality is QB can only control so much and a lot of things are outside his control. I have never removed Romo or any player of rightful blame for mistake.

That's fair, if you're going to blame one guy, you have to spread it around. Romo's mistakes just feel like they stick out more because they seem to come during the worst possible games, at the worst possible times. Then the media replays the play over and over again, and perception just becomes reality. What makes Romo an look like an elite QB at times (taking chances, being a "gunslinger"), also makes him incredibly frustrating at times. Having said that, I'll take Romo being a risk taker, when he's on, he's about as good as it gets.

Most former players like Romo and always have, it's the talking heads that love poking at Romo.

Ray's answer isn't necessarily in praise of Romo, it's the point of view any actual player has, especially good ones on mediocre teams.

Romo needs to continue producing but he needs to produce a win in a 'big' game or he's going to regretfully carry this baggage around with him for the rest of his life. That's not fair but then life isn't fair. I'll always know he's a great QB but just sayin'.

Some mistakes have been his and some that he gets blamed on when watching the entirety of the play is not. QB has to release the ball at a certain point within a rout he can't wait until the rout is complete then throw it so that means his man has to be at that exact location at the exact time. This why these guys spend hours working on this. Again this is not to say that Romo is without blame, there are times he has flat out made critical mistakes. There is no doubt in my mind this franchise can win a SB with Tony but to get that SB a lot of guys on both sides of the ball have to step up to the next level.
