Wrong!

You can't gain experience in just two years or so...not in the NFL!

Amazing! So, if Romo does not win the next SB, we ditch him? The who? And, how long do we give the next guy?

Wow....

I never said He has to win the SB. But He has to play well and consistant. I've been saying this for ever, ROmo Is so way to hot and cold and when it matters, I'm sorry to say it, but He sucks.

Get us in the post-season and win atleast one game..That's how bad it's gotten.

i have said this before.....

i want romo to be a success in dallas, i pull for him and hope he turns into a hall of fame qb

but, imo, he has to change his attitude

that" if we win..ok. if we lose, ok" statement after the philly game set me off

aikman, emmitt, irvin, etc, etc would have never said that.

losing KILLED them.

romo needs that kind of attitude....imo

Sooooo True. x 2 for this post.

Ahhh...yes. The ol' "exaggeration makes me right" approach.

Good luck with that.

Except the poster actually said that. The bit about two years not being enough "experience", anyways.

And its not exaggeration. In nearly every Romo thread there has been on this board in the last several days, there's at least a few posters saying Romo is still a youngin' and we should give him time to get more experience.

Tony Romo has a lot of pressure on him to win. USC has a better offensive philosophy than Dallas did this year. They are physical and run, no matter what. They have balance. They get the ball out quick and then, take their shots down the field.

Romo isn't the problem. He has great talent. He needs structure in the offense, and he needs to be coached better and managed better.

Plus, he needs Owens out of Dallas, ASAP. Like, now.

Ok...so the Boyz get rid or Romo...the homo!

Now what? Who do you want?

Now, remember...whoever you want to replace him must win the SB in his first or second year.

Please, tell us...

What if the Colts said the same thing about Manning?

Just an opinion, it will be his third full year as a starter, fourth season as a starter overall and seventh in the league; if he can't win a playoff game by then baring great injury then its reasonable to question his status as signal caller in the near future.

2006: 6-4 record Wildcard loss
2007: 13-3 record Divisional loss
2008: 8-5 record No playoffs
2009:?

So in the regular season he is 27-12 as a starter and in the playoffs he is 0-2; he's a talented and undisciplined player and you've got to examine at what point your patience runs out with the lack of discipline.

If Dallas misses the playoffs next year there will be a question of faith in the quarterback.

Nice post, freezing man!

If you really realize it, Romo is a baby to the NFL! And what he has done so far is pretty damn good!

Two and a half years as a starter? He should have won the SB two years by now!

For all his faults this season, some need to give the guy a break. It's not easy to be a QB in the NFL, much less for the Cowboys!

I really think that better times are ahead of us...

:)

Freezing is right: -31 Celsius today (-24F). :laugh2:

I do think some have had unreasonable expectations on Romo given his meteoric rise to superstardom. No QB has ever been able to win games singlehandedly - it takes a team to do that.

Many of Romo's errors this year have been due to pressing for the big play in situations where he should have just eaten the ball. Unfortunatley, due to lack of OL play, our big plays have come as a result of his improvisational ability - buying extra time. Without it, we don't score points.

I don't think anyone can make a consistent living making big plays out of broken pass protection. I think Houck and Garrett have to take their games to another level next year because they do have the talent to succeeed.

Romo has to learn to protect the football. He is someone to be gameplanned. He can make plays. Boy can he make them. He just needs to stop making them for the other team. This is not something that has never been seen. He just has to stop it. I'm starting to wonder if he can. Let's hope so.
That's it in a Nutshell.

Is Romo the answer? It depends on the question.

He's the QB we're going to ride for the foreseeable future to try and add a 6th Lombardi Trophy. He's got serious talent that makes that a possible amazing success story given where he came from and how he got here. If people think it is easy to win in the NFL they need to look at how hard it was for one of the greatest QBs of all time, Peyton Manning.

The guy will figure it out. He has good coaches, good weapons, and the right attitude.

He might be, he might not be. If he is, OK. If he's not, OK.

Romo not the problem. O Line that still cant pick up the blitz after 2 1/2 years or gain a yard on the ground in key situations is the problem. Romo must feel he has done several tours in the war after some of the shots he's taken last couple years.

The number of times there is a free guy who takes a shot at Romo while someone (OL or RB/TE) is blocking air is mind-boggling.

After years and years of looking for Aikman's replacement I can't believe we finally get a good one and after only 2+ years of starting people question if he is the answer.

Yes, he is the answer.

I'll take my chances with this guy at QB. Otherwise, we can just pick up an all-pro at the 7-eleven.

Why do ppl compare Romo to Manning and the Colts??? Manning was the number 1 overall pick Romo is an undrafted free agent... they are not the same! Why would anyone think the best QB coming out of college in the last 20 years would be treated like an undrafted QB is beyond me!

Next, it will be Alonzo Coleman will be the next Adrian Peterson, just get him a few starts under his belt...

I think the feeling is somewhat mutual across this board. We know what we have in Romo, and we know what he is capable of. I think the bottom line is and I said it in another post, Romo needs to be Romo. When he runs out of time and can pull the ball down and run, like last year, he needs to do it. And if he gets into trouble he needs to get outside the tackles and throw the ball away. I think he is the one to take us to the SB, but without production from our O-line and receivers it will be hard. I also feel he needs to be more emotional and start jumping on these guys when they mess up, a la Aikman. Just a thought.

He's put up some nice stats, but hasn't delivered in the three most important games of his career. Is this an aberration, or is the guy a stat padder who will never deliver when it really counts?

Does it really matter at this point, seriously???

We just gave Romo a zillion dollars and guaranted a large chunk of that, so he is our QB for the foreseeable future.

Jerry said it himself in his interview, that if you get rid of a player you gave a large contract to (Jerry used TO as an example), then the team cant give Ware a new deal.

Considering there is no chance in hell that Jerry lets Ware walk out the door, this means Romo is not going anywhere for a loooooooooooooooong time.

So it doesnt matter what type of QB Romo is because he is our QB now. There will be no QB competition in camp, there will be no free agent QB signed to be anything more that a backup, and there will be no QB drafted high.

So the question is not if Romo can take us to the SuperBowl, the question is what do we need to do to get to the SB with Romo at QB. That means reign him in a bit with more running plays or more conservate passes or we surround him with enough talent that the team can overcome his mistakes.

That is our only choices, so the question is "HOW DO WE WIN WITH ROMO", NOT "IS ROMO GOOD ENOUGH".

I know alot of posters are not going to like this, but that is just the reality of how the salary cap and guaranteed money works. There are no do-overs in this league.

I think so.

Things that are being said about Romo were said about Payton Manning and John Elway until they finally one the big one.

Payton was 30
John was 37

Its 2009 or bust for Romo, if he doesn't win a playoff game next year (see how our standards have slipped) then I'm ok with parting ways with him.

If that is the case, then you better hope 2010 is uncapped.

That is because Romo has $35-$40 million in guaranteed money on his contract (that has already been reworked several times).

You prepared for the team to take that type of cap hit?

You realize we basically would have to field a team of rookies in this scenario?

Like I said, unless we can dump his cap hit into the uncapped year, Romo is going nowhere for a very loooooooong time.

Just caponomics, I know it may suck but thats reality.
