I loooooooooooooooooooved Roy, but he's lost enough steps IMO that it's just time to hit the trail. It happens. Eventually it'll be Ware and Barber and Romo and Owens and ....

and before you call me crazy:

Roy Williams = 6'0, 225 lbs

Zach Thomas = 5'11, 228 lbs.

Steve Octavien = 6'0, 238 lbs

RW's problem has been in the open field, covering receivers. Move him inside and split time with Zach, Kevin, and even Bradie. I think he'd be in his element.

Here is how he stays...

1) He goes to Jerry and voluntarily restructures his deal.

2) He plays on obvious running downs and plays with the reckless abandon we all know and love him for.

3) He spends the off-season working on the field and in the film room to improve his coverage. I think we will lose Kevin Burnett to free agency. There is no reason why Roy can't move to Burnett's nickel linebacker spot on passing downs. Now Williams is playing almost every down and he's playing positions he can handle. He's big enough (6'0"/225 vs Burnett 6'3"/227) to take on blockers if teams run on passing downs and he should be able to handle the coverage responsibilities of the position.

Roy is well-liked by Jerry and his teammates. If there's any way he can stay and help this team then I think he deserves that chance.

4) Changes his attitude.

His attitude has been piss poor for a few seasons now. That has to change.

The only thing is as great as he was he hit with his right shoulder 99% of those hits. I almost think he has some shoulder issue he won't let on about.

Hated "Evil" Roy when he played for OU cause he was a beast.

Started to like "Evil" Roy when he was a Cowboy and lighting up suckers and taking out chumps.

Now I hate "Evil" Roy because he sucks and might as well put on a skirt from the comments he has made defending his play.

We got the real roy, the legend on this team and that is the only roy williams we need.

He probably has played his last down with the Dallas Cowboys.

Hopefully.......he's really not worth the $ they are paying him, quite frankly.

Funny thing is that we have Davis playing back there, and yet I don't see too many deep balls being completed for run-away touch downs. Something happened to Roy, I don't know what it was, but it's gone.

We also didn't have 20 sacks in 3 games and lead the NFL in sacks when Roy was playing. There is a reason for no deep balls, and it has NOTHING to do with the hate towards Roy that exists on this forum.

i'm with you.. i want Roy back..

and i think there's about a 50/50 chance he'll be back.. now that we are finally attacking on defense, i think Roy could become dominate again.. he seemed rejuvenated before he got hurt.. he was playing really aggressively again.. and he has been a huge Cowboys cheerleader on the sideline, really hollering for the guys and the guys seem to love it, as a lot of them have come over to Roy after a big play.. a lot of times, when guys are hurt they'll just stand there, looking like they don't care one way or the other.. not Roy, he's really into it..

we miss his play against the run, and none of our other safeties have been any better in pass coverage, Hamlin included.. i think he loves being a Cowboy, i think Jerry loves him being a Cowboy, and i think a lot of people would love to see what a rejuvenated Roy could do in a defense that he was born to play in..

Henry is moving to safety roy is gone. He will be a dolphin or a falcon next year

I have a hard time believing Roy will be back unless he agrees to restructure his deal. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. Regardless of what we do with Roy, I think adding another safety to the mix would be a good idea.

I'm not convinced he is. The safety position was hit pretty hard this year by injuries. We honestly don't know how he would've performed this year since he was injured for all but 3-4 games(?)

I could see them drafting another safety, regardless of what they do with Roy.

:starspin I agree, I see us bringing in another safety either through the draft or FA, no matter what happens with Williams.

I'm not so sure he is gone. If they cut him after this year I believe it only saves $1.8M At that cost, I'm not sure you can replace him. It would probably be cheaper to just keep him. If you do let him go, you have to replace him. That isn't free.

Gone or not gone...hmm.

Let me ask you this, who wouldn't want the old Roy of 3 years ago playing on this defense now ? Man, we are playing lights out now...Add the Roy of 3 years ago and no offense would want to face us.

I don't care if he comes back or not.

Roy is one of those guys that plays for the love of the game but hates the business side of it. It's ironic but the side of the game he appears to disdain is the side that made him wealthy and secure.

I wouldn't be surprised if he retires and spends more time with his charitable work.

Ever since Kelly Rowlen called the wedding off he's not even been a shell of himself. Everyone blames the religion thing but the guy was in shambles from that. He was the NFL's most physical player while hanging out with Destiny's Child and Jay Z. Neither of the 2 are the case anymore and it's not a coincidence.

100% true. Kelly bounce'd him and he found Jesus. Not that anything is wrong with the later but he lost his mojo.

You can't honestly tell me Keith Davis or Tre Battle scare anyone in coverage.

Roy has a history of giving up big plays but these dweebs aren't any better and might be worse.
