Broaddus claims the three are rotating 1st team reps at mike while Winters is getting all the 1st team reps to himself. Broaddus & Voch though are disappointed that James is getting some 1st team reps because they didn't like him in the draft and haven't changed their mind from last seasons performance.I’d consider him Option #4 at inside linebacker right now.
I think Overshown and Winters are the projected starters, with Barham at #3.
I haven’t heard much mention of James - good or bad so far.
But there’s a lot of time before the season starts, so he may hate opportunity to move up the list.
I hadn’t heard that, thanks for sharing that information.Broaddus claims the three are rotating 1st team reps at mike while Winters is getting all the 1st team reps to himself. You left out better coaching. I mean, I hope it’s better after last season’s schmo’s.He wasn't good last year, but he had many things working against him. Bad scheme, bad talent around him, inexperience.
This year he should have a better scheme, better talent around him and more experience. He should only improve. To what extent remains to be seen. I'd love for him to turn into a starter, but wouldn't want to rely on it.
Led the Cowboys in tackles last season.......I know, that's not saying much but.....
I saw plays where Shemar did diagnose well and his speed made an extra impact, but there wasn’t a lot of them.I hadn’t heard that, thanks for sharing that information.
Sounds like Parker is still firmly in the evaluation process and seeing what he’s got.
If Broaddus & Voch are holding last season against James, they’re making a mistake.
Nobody played well in that atrocious scheme under that terrible staff. Every player on this team should get a mulligan for last year. Rookies most of all.
And for a complete clusterfudge of a D. Other LBs were terrible, S's were terrible, CB's were terrible. No one can play well surrounded by that much chaff. He played better than most give him credit for. Being thrown in because of injuries, and coming off of an injury himself.
Not really true. He was both good and bad. As was to be expected from a raw rook. Showed some good signs of being able to play in this league. He was not good last year. If you’re depending on him to start, you’ve got problems on defense.
He graded out as one of the worst LBs in the league last year. Not really true. He was both good and bad. As was to be expected from a raw rook. Showed some good signs of being able to play in this league.
Absolutely. He was a raw rookie. Surrounded by no talent. He graded out as one of the worst LBs in the league last year.
I really don't expect a whole lot from him other than to get a couple tackles a game on defense and special teams. Could be a ST Ace, though. He wasn't good last year, but he had many things working against him. Bad scheme, bad talent around him, inexperience.

Look at the top LBs in the league. This notion that LBs have to be 240-250 just isnt the case. The guy is too dammmm small to be at MLB… 6 ft nothing and 230 lbs just ain’t gonna cut it.
Might as well just put a speed bump with a sign that says. “ slow down, you might ruin your tires. “
Better than Murray, not the greatest. DL is the strength of defense.Forgot about James. Happens.
So, please correct me if Im wrong, which is somewhere between possible and likely….
The inside LBs in this scheme are going to be Winters, Overshown, James and Barham.
It’s not exactly the greatest room in the league but what’s really wrong with it? Don’t we want to see what these guys can do within this scheme, or keep trading high draft picks for names that you’ve heard of?

Most MLBs are between 229 and 245. Look it up. Fred Warner/230.The guy is too dammmm small to be at MLB… 6 ft nothing and 230 lbs just ain’t gonna cut it.

I agree that there are smaller mikes these days but a lot of those roster numbers are not correct. Wagner was 236 at the combine, Greenlaw was 237 at the combine. Bolton is the same as his combine numbers. But guys put on muscle when they get in the league as well. Most MLBs are between 229 and 245. Look it up. Fred Warner/230.
The day of the big LBs is over. They just can't get through to make plays. And MLBs need to be able to cover nowadays. Smaller guys.
Nick Bolton5-11 /237
Dre Greenlaw is 6/230. Exact same size.
Bobby Wagner: 6-0/241
Just go down the list of MLBs in the NFL and you'll quickly see you got this one wrong.
I think Justin Barron stands an outside shot, too, at being one of the ILBs depthwise. He and Barham have the best length for the position at 6-3/6-4.Forgot about James. Happens.
