Is the 'firing' of Belichick bigger, worse, and more disrespectful than the Landry firing?

Let's be 100% honest, he had the goat at QB otherwise he never sniffs a ring. Look at what he did both before he had Brady and after, nothing.

He did go 11-5 in 2008 with Matt Cassel starting the whole year.

At the very least, Bill is one of the best defensive minds in football history. His defenses are always good and he had some stellar ones in the past.

His abilities as a GM and talent scout have fallen off in the past decade.

Jimmy never won a ring without Troy. Troy won without Jimmy. Jimmy sucks.

What a beyond stupid opinion. To say it’s stupid is an understatement
I disagree. Bill, while a great coach, has been less than stellar anytime he coached without Brady.

Jimmy was a great coach before he came to Dallas.

Now, I'm not saying BB needed Brady in order to win, but we'll never know unless he continues to coach, and wins without him.

From what I can recall, everyone wanted Landry gone at the time as the game had passed him by. At least that was the discussions I remember.

Until he got let go then there was an uproar, mainly stirred by the local media as Jones was an outsider and didn’t handle his letting go that gracefully.
That's the way I remember it too. Of course, it could be like the fan base here, where half are ride and die with their guy, and the other half are ready to drop him the first time loses a game.

Any FOOL that thinks a coach who was also GM put together a program that dominated for nearly 20 years is anything but great is a true football moron

These people are clueless man. It’s shocking
But then remember Jerry saying that 500 coaches could have won the SB with the Cowboys in 93?
and some here who think he still can do very little wrong.
So there are lots of stupid people around

Fired? Mutual parting? I assume he was fired, or at minimum told to be gone. Belichick has more wins (I think) and more super bowl trophies than Landry.
Try to put aside your Cowboy fan bias for a second and answer.

I think it is for one main reason. Team loyalty was a lot stronger back then than it is today. Players are moving around in free agency and coaches are getting fired and hired so much these days. Belichick likely will continue coaching with another team. Maybe even Washington. I don't think Landry had any intention to ever coach anywhere after getting fired.

The firing of Belichick doesn't seem to be big news.
Landry had my respect and didn't disappoint.
Belicheck had my respect briefly before he was caught cheating, and feigning ignorance of what he was doing.

So, Landry's firing was much worse.

What are you Talking About..Did You See The Belichick Pres Conf..It Was Mutual "No Firing" Between Belichick & Kraft Nothing Disrespectful.

Sad That You Had To Bring Landry Into This
Sad that the OP didn't already know the answer. Just sayin.

I don't see anything disrespectful at all about Belichick's firing. Frankly, it's time. The Patriots roster bottomed out and is ready to tear it down. Belichick the GM wasn't going to survive that teardown, and at 71 years old, Belichick the HC isn't the right guy to start a multi-year rebuild with either.

Pats ownership didn't blindside him, and they haven't disrespected him publicly. I don't know how else you want them to handle it.

It really isn’t big news. I think Saban was a bigger news and quite a shock.

Everyone knew it was coming for Bill. That’s just the nature of the NFL. What have you done for me lately.

Dad used to say. Old legends never die but new ones are born everyday.

Teams are always ready to move on if things become stale or stagnant.

And there’s never really a good way to get rid of a legend if hey aren’t ready to go.

Parting ways like in mutual agreements is about as good as it gets . It allows them to keep some dignity. And probably a few million as well.

Yeah, but he went to 9 super bowls. No other coach has done that. You think Rodgers only goes to 1 Super Bowl if he was playing for New England? It's the coach/QB combination that did it. Another duo that can start chasing them is Andy Reid and Mahomes. Really good coach, and really good QB.

Lololol what an embarrassing take. Brady was nothing when BB won 3 rings w him. You’re so embarrassing
Pretty sure he won 10 games with Matt Cassel. He's an awesome coach and gets credit for who Brady became.

I dont know if the games passed him by, but I suspect with a decent qb he can still win a lot of games.

Belichik's departure was expected. He wasn't blindsided.
Landry was blindsided.
Landry should have seen it coming. The team was in decline, his best days were behind him. Couple that with a change in ownership and he should have seen it coming from miles away.

Nobody is winning championships without at least an above average QB with very few exceptions .

Yea, I’m surprised he didn’t try to bring in someone or make a move in draft. Perhaps just stubborn.

Look what Browns did and Jets tried to do. With great defenses just needed a good QB.

Reid will be 66 in a couple of months. How much longer do you really think he's going to coach? No way he sticks around to chase BB. Yes, he's got mahomes, but unless they upgrade their WR's they won't have the same success. Mahomes looked human this season. Kelce will retire (maybe this off season) to be Taylor Swift's boy toy, so you lose a HOF weapon and that offense will continue to have some issues.
