Is the 'firing' of Belichick bigger, worse, and more disrespectful than the Landry firing?

Landry should have seen it coming. The team was in decline, his best days were behind him. Couple that with a change in ownership and he should have seen it coming from miles away.
Well, to be honest . He just needed a QB. It all fell apart once Danny went down in 1986.

He probably could have built it back to respectable with Troy, Irvin and Herschel. Maybe not as fast or great as Jimmy cause Tom wouldn’t have traded Herschel.

With a change in ownership, a HC change is to be expected unless the team is built

BB situation is worse IMO

Pretty sure he won 10 games with Matt Cassel. He's an awesome coach and gets credit for who Brady became.

I dont know if the games passed him by, but I suspect with a decent qb he can still win a lot of games.

Reid will be 66 in a couple of months. How much longer do you really think he's going to coach? No way he sticks around to chase BB. Yes, he's got mahomes, but unless they upgrade their WR's they won't have the same success. Mahomes looked human this season. Kelce will retire (maybe this off season) to be Taylor Swift's boy toy, so you lose a HOF weapon and that offense will continue to have some issues.
Yea, I’d be shocked if Andy retired now but anything is possible . Especially if he has health issues.

There might be some HC come out of retirement for an opportunity to coach Mahomes. Lol

Yeah bc you need good players to win. He won 11 games with M. Cassell
True, but MM won 4 out of 5 with Cooper Rush, and Kellen Moore calling plays.

I agree that BB is a great coach. I'm just not sure he's as great as he appears. I'd certainly be willing to find out, if he wants a job in Dallas.

I don't see him retiring now. I'd give him 3-5 more years and he's done. He's not exactly a picture of health

BB leaving was 2 years in the making at least. Not unexpected. I would hate to be the Coach that has to follow in his footsteps. Thats why I think a guy like Eric Bienemy might fit the bill. He will come in there and change how they do things schematically. Sometimes change can be a great thing. New England has some nice pieces to build around but are missing the most important thing, a true NFL QB. I'd hire EB and let him find a guy that can run his scheme at QB. Would they trade for Trey Lance? Hmm...or Dak? Not that I wanna get rid of Dak...I just think they might make a run at him. Realistically, I think Lance might be a fit for them.Mac Jones is nothing more than a career backup type. Zappe is the same.

4/5 with Rush as if that means something. We are talking winning super bowls lol. He won 11 games w Matt Cassell. Not 4/5 games

Landry meant more to the franchise than BB does to his. I think they'll forget about BB in a year. Still haven't forgotten about Landry.

nah, that was one talent deprived team in '88. Tom likely would have gone 1-15 in '89, but I don't think the vision was there any longer to trade away a guy like Walker, and he most likely wouldn't have gotten all the pieces back that Jerry and Jimmy did. I don't think Dallas would have made the playoffs until 92 or 93 if Tom was still coaching. I don't see any way the organization gets another Super Bowl, let alone 3, if Landry had remained in place. For him not to see the firing coming is illogical in my mind.

Landry was not Blindsided. He was a big boy, he knew exactly how it would all work out. The new CEO or President always gets rid of the old staff and brings in his own. Ridiculous!
exactly right. Coaching can be a dirty business and so is it when you are a GM/OWNER...because eventually change has to be made. Coaches are hired to be fired. They know it when they are in that profession.

So you think BB will be remembered 40-50 years from now? Landry is a legend in these parts. BB is just a coach.
Agree. Outside of a relatively small group of players that played for him, he isn't revered universally like Landry still is. Landry was beloved by guys that never even played for him, to this day. BB, not so much.

Firing Landry was not disrespect. It was needed but nobody had the balls to do it besides JJ. Fans got upset about it because Landry was the heart of the Cowboys. Thankfully JJ fired Landry and hired Jimmy. Firing BB is also not disrespect. Bills time has expired.
The truth was the majority of the fan base knew that there probably needed to be a coaching change. They didn’t like the way it went, although I think there still would have been a lot of outrage if Bright had done it too.

People forget that BB couldn't win anywhere before New England. He was viewed in not such a great way by the media and many fans. Tom Brady changed all that.
