Is The "Tough Schedule" Already A Built In Excuse For Garrett?

Most tend to think the schedule will be tough on the Boys this coming season. Last season the defense injury bug was the excuse. This year the Horrible, Last Place Defense, that lost Ware & Hatcher is already being used by some to lower expectations.

Will this "tough schedule" with 4 of our last 6 games on the road be an automatic excuse for Red _ if we dont make the playoffs again?

I hope they don't allow this to become one more excuse to keep him around if this season goes south, there was a time that the harder the schedule the more we drooled in anticipation of seeing our team beat the very best the NFL had to offer; now we cower and whine like abused pets when we perceive anything negative about to happen on the schedule. The schedule is the schedule and the Raiders is harder than ours, so Garrett better just suck it up and coach this team to wins or do us all a favor and fall on the sword if Jerry won't fire him. BTW, I know he won't and neither would I; never turn down free money. = )

Not sure. But with as many moves we've made to contort this team for Garrett's liking, I would like to see some consistency. I feel like we're in too deep to not give it some time.

In the Jerry-Garrett relationship, anything is possible. Scott Linehan could end up the fall guy this year.

I think that JJ has been trying coaching continuity as a strategy with JG. He has seen no success with the multiple head coaching changes previously, so to get a different result he's trying to stick it out with one for a longer period--now if he chose the right coach to stick it our with remains to be seen.

And here I was thinking our sub-par roster, with it's gaping holes in the starting lineup and a near total lack of quality depth, would be the "excuse". Good to know.

Thief................ ;)

I would hope not. We have a middle-of-the-pack SOS.

It's not the teams we play as much as when/where we play them that makes this a beast. We have to it anyway so not much we can do about it. The second game being in Washington every year is something Jerry should bring up with the league office however. There is no excuse for it.

I thought his built in excuse was him being a puppet?

Keeping track of these things is confusing.

Our schedule looks brutal but always remember your schedule always changes with injuries, other team low points/high points

I really do not understand the premise of this thread. What if we have a good draft, stay relatively healthy, and have some good luck and end up winning most of those games and going to the playoffs? What if we have the injury bug again and lose most of those game and miss the playoffs? What if our poor defense stays poor?

What I am trying to say is that it is way too early to start with this nonsense again. A million different things can happen and there is no reason to start up this agenda this far into the future.
