Is The "Tough Schedule" Already A Built In Excuse For Garrett?

Last year at this time we would have thought the Falcons would've been a tough draw but look what happened to them. Anything can happen and I'm not really into making excuses. I am into making this team, specifically the defense, better and we have a long way to go until game one.

no, i never assume the falcons are that good. the falcons will show you that. i think some people got more worried about waht they drafted, and thought that was the end all. Sports have way more to them than jsut the players.

i agree with the rest of your post. last year is forgotten, lets move forward and get better.

You don't really know how tough a schedule is until after the season.

No ne knows form one year to the next what the hot teams are going to be outside a few of them. We didnt know the crappy Chiefs of 2 years ago was all of a sudden start kicking arse. Any team is capable of playing great all year and most all teams can lay an egg. An NFL schedule is neither tough or weak.

Most tend to think the schedule will be tough on the Boys this coming season. Last season the defense injury bug was the excuse. This year the Horrible, Last Place Defense, that lost Ware & Hatcher is already being used by some to lower expectations.

Will this "tough schedule" with 4 of our last 6 games on the road be an automatic excuse for Red _ if we dont make the playoffs again?

No, once they decided to cut Ware and not re-sign Hatcher, the tone was set that they're probably not going to be contender this season. The schedule is irrelevant.

We had an unbelievable amount of injuries resulting in the worst defense in the league and Romo's back saved JG?

Right.

We weren't even top 5 in injuries. Give me a break.

The Packers, Colts, and Patriots were worse off than us. The Saints were just about even with us. I am tired of the blame game. Jerry thinks so highly of Romo that I truly think it did save Garrett's job.

Right.

I think what he is getting at is that if Romo had played the whole season healthy and we didn't make the playoffs, the consensus was the Garrett was going to be fired. Nick Eatman even said as much during the season. However, with Romo being out that last game of the year, barely losing with Orton may have given Jerry the cover he needed to keep Garrett.

Sounds plausible to me, don't see it as an irrational position to take.

True but most of ours was to one unit. And are they counting just season injuries or preseason and prior?

While I don't agree I can't disprove this and it may be part of the equation.

Pardon the hell out of me for mentioning the front 7 on defense especially the DL. I didn't see any of those teams you mentioned having the same issue we did. Not giving you a break at all.
