Is there a cap hit for cutting Carr this offseason?

Exactly. He's not as bad as people make out and this is from someone who tires of seeing him trailing a receiver on a crossing route. Carr does make more plays that not though. The fanbase here want to get rid of Carr, Claiborne, and last week it was Scandrick. You going to replace 3 good players in one offseason?

Claiborne should be resigned. Scandrick carries a decent dead cap hit for 2018 if you cut him, so he should be back. Unless Carr comes back on a pretty decent contract, he's clearly the one that would likely need to go.

Seeing Carr and Heath on the same side terrifies me. I don't know why teams don't throw to that side every down.
Carr has played pretty good this year. There's nothing terrifying about the way he's playing. I'm not calling him an All-Pro but he's been solid and Heath had an interception last night. Pretty big play in the game. I'm not calling him an All-Pro either but he has improved his play in the secondary.

Winston was rough much of the night. As pointed out, Carr had a big gaffe late that Winston blew by overthrowing Evans.

A big gaffe but Winston extended that play with his feet. I don't love Carr myself but he isn't nearly as bad as people make him out to be.

I thought he's been solid this year. The tipped play was just a crazy bounce, he had the coverage on the play.
Carr has been solid overall. I will give him his props. His ball skills have ALWAYS been an issue (his lack of INTs being indicative of that fact) and it showed on that play times 10. That was embarrassing man - no ifs ands or buts. Should have been a routine play for any so-called top corner. Certainly a corner at his level should make that play point blank period.

Carr is a decent CB who never misses a game. He doesn't get injured and doesn't get suspended. I'll take that. Nobody forced the Cowboys to pay him.

Geez....name me a CB that doesn't give up TDs. Carr isn't a superstar, but he's good. He'd have a starting job next Sunday if cut. There's not a CB in the HOF who ever had a season of not giving up TDs. I'm not sure what you guys want at CB.

I would agree overall. He just appeared at times last night to bad Carr. I do think he's played a part in the improved secondary play this year with most of that credit going to a Jones' stabilizing presence.

I would see if Carr would come back next year, for a lower price.. Real low. He has been better this season and at least has been there every game.

Probably what they see on Madden 17', played on Rookie.

10000% wrong, did you watch the play? He did exactly what I said bobbled the ball and knocked it right into the WR's hand for a TD. It was Carr's job to do anything but what he did and you're defending him. You're impossible.

lol... only thing missing from this post is "Here's what I would have done if it was me out there."

I think you are talking about a different play.

I am not talking about the bobbled interception play for a TD. I am talking about a play late in the game when Tampa was trying to mount a drive for the win. Carr had deep responsibility and yet he hesitated on a shorter route that was already covered and let Evans run right past him. Winston overthrew an open Evans.

I'm always in favor of upgrading any position when possible. If that includes Carr, so be it.

I will say the secondary looked a lot better when the line was pressuring Winston. It's funny how that works.

I see receivers being criticized all the time for bobbling the ball into a defender's hand for a interception, but the same doesn't hold true for a corner? He should have just knocked the ball down it was 3rd down he was trying to pad his stats. This has nothing to do with how he performed the last few years to me, it was a low IQ play and it could have cost us the game. I don't care if it was Deion I would have said the same thing.
He was trying to pad his stats? That's crazy. He was trying to make a play on the ball which is what those guys are taught to do.

Carr shows up every single week and is very solid and competes hard. Far from spectacular, but for the most part he keeps his man in front of him and makes tackles. Obviously in a perfect world we'd have a guy who is a lock down CB who creates takeaways, but reality is that there just aren't a whole lot of them out there. Carr is the type of guy we'll only miss after he's gone and his replacement is injured or inconsistent.

And all CBS trail on crossing routes; that's why teams run them. Those routes are stopped by bad passes, dropped balls, or middle defenders. When a trailing CB makes a play on the ball, it's because the interior defense made the receiver pull up in a zone or the QB didn't lead him enough.
I'm aware but he's never in position to make a play on the ball on those routes. He always gets beat. I like what he's done this year but it's still frustrating to watch on that particular part of his game.

Did you like when he gifted the Bucs a touchdown by trying for an interception and bobbling the ball into a Bucs receiver's hands instead of just knocking it down and forcing them to punt?
Did you like that time you had .2 seconds to make a decision in your life and made a bad one? Tell me, how was he to bat the ball down, his hands were no where near the top of the ball. It was a terribly unlucky play let it go.

He could have knocked the ball away. He tried to make the interception and I can't really fault him for that but the fact remains he could have just slapped the ball away with one hand.

Man I hope not, it is time to move on! Problem is you can't count on Claiborne to be healthy all season but I am not sure Carr is better than some of the players we have on the bench. I think you could put Jones over there is you had to and be better off and put Wilcox back to FS.

CB and DL priority in the draft if they are there.

we just need to draft another corner like brown and we can get rid of carr and not have to pay out so much money to guy that is playing no better then an undrafted player plays.
