Is there anyway to get Martellus Bennett involved?

Our offense is doing very well w/Tony and Miles developing a chemisty, which is a great suprise. I really think we are under utilizing MB, he could make this offense even more explosive. I know he is a nut, but he has great talent, it seems like Garret has given up on him. A few screens or flat passes every now and then would really shake the defense up.

He caught 3 balls last week...that would be a 48 catch pace. These things are organic...they grow naturally...and at different pacing.

You don't force something.

By the way it isn't Jason's playcalling (or certainly not normally). It's just a matter of what Tony is seeing from the defense and how he's moving through his reads and the progression. I'm sure he'll continue to feed MB more balls.

He's more invovlved then casual fans know. He is blocking well and drawing coverage at times when he gets split out as well. This has been highly effective when they run it. I will say, Bennett has taken 1 or 2 dumb penalties, but he's a good young player. I predict he makes a couple of big plays for us down the stretch.

I agree Canadian BoyzFan. He's done a great job blocking this year. We have a lot of weapons on offense and it's hard to get everybody going all the time. If Bennett continues doing his job like he's suppose to I think everything will fall into place for him numbers wise.

Not sure why Tony and Miles developing chemistry is a surprise. They have only been teammates for 4 years now.

As for Bennett, he just had the biggest game of the year last Sunday. How can that be translated into Garrett giving up on him?

There's just simply not enough balls to go around. RW, Austin, PC, Witten, Bennett, Choice, JOnes, MB.

How he was used last week is probably about right considering.

We use the 2-TE set more than half our offensive snaps.

He is involved. So is Deon Anderson, John Phillips, and the O-line.

Just because a player doesn't show up in the stats column, doesn't mean they aren't integral to the success. Bennett is very heavily involved in fact. He has been a key component to some of the success.

Right on the money. Maybe someone can provide the link to the breakdown of the 22 and 12 sets. Woodysgirl posted it a couple weeks ago.

This needs to be stickied so we don't get a thread like this every week somebody thinks our backup TE isn't involved enough.

...most definitely. And he deserves some kudos for playing 'under the radar'. His blocking has been great and his mere presence on the field is a crucial factor to our success this year. I'm glad we didn't trade him for a #1 pick. I think he's a steal from the 2nd round and this guy has grown on me as a player, since I was skeptical about him being an Aggie. I think he plays with a team attitude and I like that.

Having said that, the best way to get him involved in the passing game is to have success running the ball, use him in redzone situations as well as keep the passing game going. Teams aren't going to make him the focal point. So I think Marty B's time to shine in the passing game comes later in the season, or in the playoffs when teams are focusing on Witten, who is quite possibly the best TE to ever play the game.

Patience grasshoppers.

Excellent point. You would think that anyone watching the games should be able to see this for themselves.

Hopefully he will become our not so secret goal line weapon that we are inventorying for big games like next week. I've seen him make a number of fine blocks in the 2 TE set, at this point it's more important that he gets that down IMO.
