Is there anyway to get Martellus Bennett involved?

I'm not saying his is'nt contributing, but as a 2nd round te I think he is more capable of more than blocking and decoying, he has great speed and height. If "Crayon" or some other guy isn't available I would Like Romo to give him a shot...

Moose was a 2nd round pick more capable than just lead blocking.

I would say that Bennett has had more of an impact on our offensive production this year and last than Felix Jones. And he was drafted later. But people don't complain about spending a first on Felix.

Hostile, Can't we agree that MB has a little more pass value then DJ?

Look, I get it, you're hung up on stats and draft position.

It is a silly fallacy to think he is not an integral part of this Offense just as it would have been a silly fallacy to think that Moose wasn't.

Facts > stats

Hey Scipio, is five enough? And for the poster who just said we ddnt just draft a blocking te? Aren't u contradicting yourself?

At five receptions per game, Bennet would currently have 30 catches, giving him the second most receptions on the team behind Jason Witten (33).

With Roy Williams, Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, and a myriad of talented backs, 30 receptions for a backup tight end seems a trifle high.

Dude, Moose was the man and had a huge part of our running dominance. But MB is not contribuing in the same way,,, I just want a few more passes thrwown his way and he cud justify his 2nd ability.

Stats do not justify Draft position. That is silly.

So you would justify picking 2nd round talents to do the same thing? If that were the case, wouldn't u want whant someone w/more offesnive prodution outside of blocking n decoying?

:madden:

He's a key ingredient to winning. Not sure why you can't grasp that.

Deshean Jackson was picked in the 2nd round, u want blockers and decoys over a talent like that? I guess my point is we cud have drafted a guy late w/the same intangibles. considering we traded fasano and adoyele for that performance.

I'm sure if DeSean Jackson had been there at pick #61 we would have taken him. Jackson was taken 12 spots before our pick.

You're forgetting draft day - many people didn't like the pick of Felix Jones precisely because he couldn't be (or alternatively wouldn't be used as) an everydown back.

Anyhow, I'm sure if you polled Cowboys nation, there would still be some dissent over Felix Jones.

I think the FO was right on the pick even though I disagreed with it at the time because I thought there was more value in picking Ray Rice later. Felix's short career has been plagued by injury but none of it has been from overuse - mostly just seems to be bad luck so far.

Here's what I don't get....

If we get the ball to Martellus more, it means it has to go away from someone.

So we are ok with lessening the impact of Austin/Witten to get Martellus more touches in the passing game, then, correct?

This is exactly the point. People want every weapon in the receiving corps to have 5 passes per game and the RBs to have 15 touches each.

Impossible.

I think the passing game should focus mostly on Austin, Witten and Bennett. By involving Bennett more in the passing game it will create more matchup problems in the secondary in deciding how to defend the threat of two very good receiving and blocking TEs. This should eventually begin to open things up for Austin's downfield threat by getting the safeties preoccupied to giving the LBs help underneath.

I would suggest the person who should get the ball less is Roy Williams. Most of the passes to him are incomplete and they destroy the rhythm of the offense and creates negative energy.
