Is there anyway to get Martellus Bennett involved?

Some people could be sitting right there inside of Cowboys Stadium staring at the videoboard and not see it.

So how many passes should Bennet be catching per game?

Consider the situation for moment. Passes must be distributed between Williams, Austin, Crayton, Witten, and Bennet. And the Cowboys have been striving for more balance in the offense.

Something has to give. There's only so many offensive plays per game, and only so many touches for each player.

:hammer: The crazy thing is, as offensive consistency improves as anticipated, that's a GOOD thing to hope for. A good or great offense can never have enough playmakers.

Jeez u guys are touchy, I was just implying using him more to free up witten or even Roy. His blocking has been excellent, and I'm not pushing for him to start or anything, I just think we could do more with him. Is that totally off limits? And yes the Romo to Austin connection has been a surprise. As we know jus bc u connect in practice it does'nt mean that will translate into a real game.

Touchy? No one jumped your carcass. You simply got straightened out by the truth. Relax.

Did we draft him to be a receiver or a great blocker? If that were the case we would have forgotten about him and just stuck with a te/ol. Get off your high horse. He may distract coverages but we all know he could do more. I'm not saying throw it to him 10 times a game, just utilize him a little more like we did in ps.

He had something like 60+ pancakes in his last season at A&M. His blocking ability was absolutely one of the biggest reasons we drafted him.

Dude, let it go. Honestly, you're painting yourself into a corner that will only lead to you getting hurt feelings because people will jump all over this.

In a 2 TE set, the 2nd TE is primarily a blocker. Please look it up if you doubt me.

No doubt.

Run blocking is every bit as important as being a pass receiving threat to be a tight end in this offense.

All of us, including Martellus Bennett, would like to see more production in terms of pass receptions, but we can't judge his success or effectiveness just by counting receptions.

M80 is a match-up problem for a lot of defenses and he can completely change how an opponent lines up against us depending on where he is.

Helping to create favorable situations for others doesn't get recorded as a stat and yet it's a crucial element to our scheme.

Should have just kept Fasano and drafted someone else.

Hell, should have taken Cincys 1st and ran.

And then after spending the next several years drafting TEs with high picks looking for a 2nd TE like Bennett, we could all claim out stupid they were for trading Bennett away.

What exactly is a TE like Bennett?

Extra lineman from the way it looks.

And I'm getting just a little tired of "he blocks really well" crap that has now been applied to not only the supposed #1 on the team but also the guy who is supposed to create the biggest mismatches in the passing game. Neither of those guys was brought in with the idea that their biggest contribution would be blocking. I mean, thankfully they do block because if they didn't they would almost be useless but the ball is being dropped on all levels with both Roy and Bennett.

Weird. I typed out a reply to this and it disappeared. I don't think it was offensive in any way so I doubt it was deleted by a mod.

Oh well, in any event, I'm too lazy to think out and re-type the response.

I had gone back and edited it shortly after 1st posting it........don't know why that would cause it to get dropped.

Both. He is a tight end, after all.

I'll repeat the same question I posed earlier: How many passes should Bennet be getting per game?

Garrett has to improve the red zone results, and Bennett would be a big help. I don't understand some of the personnel moves Garrett has used at the goal line. The other week, he had Witten on the sideline.

Ah, how cute.

I think it's cute, too. Don't worry. When you figure out the ball can only be spread around so much and it's apparent Marty B is a great, young talent, we won't laugh at you... we'll laugh with you.

I wish they had more offensive snaps so they could throw to MartyB more but they don't.
