Is this rock bottom for this franchise?

Mostly, I'd say yes. And like others have said, I'd unquestionably say that I hope it can't get any worse.

My fear is that it certainly can.

We've been riding the coat tails of some of the high end talent acquired from the Parcells years. We're already seeing what our defense looks like with a worn-down Ware; what about the offense post-Romo?

Right now, it's gut-wrenchingly bad, but I wouldn't be surprised if around the corner is a string of 4-12 type seasons if (when?) we're unable to find cornerstone guys to replace some of our older star players.

Who knows, maybe a string of 4-12 years is what we need to return to prominence.

This. We haven't been able to draft or develop anyone similar to what we did when BP was here. It's shocking. You'd figure you'd hit on a Pro-Bowler here or there. Nothing. Just wait until we need to find another franchise QB. This GM and staff haven't been able to find any pieces of the puzzle and it's just mind numbing how bad our organization is run. We haven't hit rock bottom yet.

Gave up the lead in a historically weak NFC East division, outside looking in on the playoffs.

Potential 3 straight years of being knocked out by a division rival.

Breaking all types of records for allowing historical comebacks. (440-1 stat)

Worst defense in team history.

22nd ranked offense with a 100M qb.

Stadium is always 30-40% full of opposing team fans.

Constantly being ridiculed and the butt of all jokes on the 24/7 sports news networks.

Players/coaches leaving the team disgruntled.

One of the worst salary cap situations in the league.

If this ain't rock bottom, I don't want to see what is.

if it isnt in their eyes, id hate to see what they are looking for to be considered rock bottom.

8-8 or 7-9 is not rock bottom. That is the problem. We are mired in mediocrity and as long was we're there, we remain stuck because Clownboy Jones thinks we are a bad break injury away. Unfortunately we have to wish for rock bottom (1-15 -- 3-13) in order to maybe have a chance for real change.

Certainly it can get worse in terms of how competitive they are on the field. Remember the years before Parcells. Those teams were dreadful.

We're heading back there in that not too distant future unless the lunatic backs off and lets his coach, whoever that may be, have authority over his own locker room.

If there is one thing you should know by now with this team it's that things can always get worse when you don't think that is possible! But until then yes this is rock bottom. They are beyond enraging their fans and very close to losing them.

Yes and no.

The talent is there for this team to be competitive as a playoff team. Unfortunately, the organization and structure of this team prohibit it from being successful.

Rock Bottom?? Rock bottom was hit long ago. I think it was when Ryan Leaf was our starter. lol

The beginning of "rock bottom" was when Jerry pushed out Jimmy Johnson and hired Switzer, because anyone could coach the Dallas Cowboys. JJ is such a joke.

Not yet at rock bottom, but if we were a ship, we would be classified as "taking on water".

We have some good players to build with. But we have cap issues, and worst of all, we are old and thin in too many areas to fix this quickly, it would seem.

Romo is good enought to win with, but should not routinely be counted on to win the game at the end like yesterday, which was close because we have no defense. Romo might have 2-3 years left.

The OL might be a this point in time a strong area for the team, which speaks to how bad thing could get. We could use a speey back to comliment Murray, but if we could get improvement at the OF spot, we would be OK.

We need 2 new DL starters quickly, due to age and injury. We must protect Lee to keep him healthy. Hopefully these 2 new DL starters can help a poor pass rush.

These issues above are the superficial things one can see from above the water line. Who knows what is below the water line.

Not sure if this is rock bottom for this gutless excuse of a team, but I feel it is rock bottom for me. I love this team and always will, but the losses are starting to hurt less. I think I am expecting it now.

"The facts are that I really do think the way things have rolled out that I'm getting to do some of the best work that I've done, relatively speaking in my career of these last several years," Jones said on his weekly radio show on KRLD-FM on Friday.

this cowboys team has shown that everytime you think they have hit rock bottom, they find a new bottom and prove us wrong

For spoiled Cowboy fans, this very well could be.

exactly, wishing for a competitive team and more than one playoff win in 17+years is spoilt

how the standards have fallen for a once proud franchise

I've never seen this team win anything of note and I'm more disappointed today than I think I've been in years. Since the Giants game in '07 at least.

This team is stuck in mud and all Jerry and company do is keep pushing on the gas. Makes a splash but in the end gets you nowhere.

It's going to have to get much worse before it gets better.

Not really.

All it would take is for one man to let go of his pride and ego, hire a real GM and HC and for the team to upgrade the defensive line and this team could make some noise. You give this team a HC that doesn't have his head up his arse and a legitimate pass rush and they're already in the playoffs with the East wrapped up.

Just MHO.
