Is this the lowest the fanbase has ever been?

I used to consider the '89 season as a super low point, but that was very temporary.
Jerry Jones just keeps making it worse.
We constantly have a winning team on the field. capable of beating any team any day. But it’s championship or nothing and I get that. Eagles, they get there and they lose what good is it. I’d rather be us.

We didn’t need any help from free agency, nothing that they had was going to help us. We didn’t have an offensive line we had injuries. Our quarterback was hurt people wanted to tank. Why should we have use free agency
They could have picked up a number of available RBs. We've been grossly below average in production since 2022.

As a kid I remember the 3 straight NFC championship losses, and being crushed, but I always had hope. After this season, I have no faith in JJ or SJ. We had our window, and it's closed now. I feel this organization is now making it up as they go, along with Philly staying competitive, Washington is now on the right course, and the rest of the NFC is getting stronger, I am 50 now and can honestly say I don't know if we will ever see Dallas in NFC championship game anytime soon.

Been a fan since the 70s. I’ve not witnessed this level of fan futility combined with media criticism. Perhaps the old guard has seen it before. I haven’t.
If you have been a fan since the 1970's you ARE the old guard.

Probably. We are watching an ownership so smug and arrogant in their ways in how they run this team the past few years.

They've boasted about their "successes" and how they are around the rim. Made comments about other teams like the Rams and Eagles and cap, like either has felt the effects of signing outsiders and playoff success.

Jerry made comments about making coaching contracts incentive based, in the era where the NFL prints money faster than the federal reserve. Dallas being the #1 team in value and probably revenue too. But then gives his non franchise QB a QB resetting deal.
The team let MM play out his contract and then at the 11th hour tried to sign him to a deal.

Even in the past during the campo years or the 8-8 years with Garrett, I would at least play Madden being hopeful about the next year. This year I didn't even bother and I doubt next year I will either.

I have nothing nice to say about ownership so I won't write anything else

Been reading all the threads here and listening to constant ridicule on the media of Jethro and Team.

There doesn’t seem to be any optimism from anyone.

Even some of the diehard homers on this board have disappeared or changed their tune.

A lot of lifers here, do you consider this the lowest the fanbase has ever felt about the team?

I remember paper bags on head in Landry’s last year and Jimmy’s first year.

Fans were low after the Campo years until a rejuvenation shot of Parcells.

But is this the worst it’s ever been?
I can’t imagine moral being lower than the Campo years. What was the year we did that special teams draft. That was bad. Fans came back. With CeeDee and Parsons we will never be complete garbage.

I've got to admit, I am not as excited about the whole coaching search as I should be, I'm not excited about the upcoming draft (except that it's in my backyard this year Nice!), I'm not excited about the upcoming free agency period, and I am not excited about the upcoming season.

Yeah, I'm about as low right now as a Cowboy's fan as I've ever been.

It's the lowest I've ever been and I've been a fan since the mid 70s. In years past you could fool yourself if we had this player or if that happened things could be different. You could say Jerry really wants to win but he just doesn't know how. Jerry doesn't even try to hide the fact that he doesn't care about winning anymore He could turn this franchise around so fast if he wanted to but he doesn't . When I was young I couldn't wait for football season to start. I always knew we'd make the playoffs and win in them. It was a wonderful feeling. I'm so sorry that some Cowboy fans have never experienced that

This year I've found myself turning on and off the games. It didn't matter to me if we won or loss. I also found myself watching other teams more than the Cowboys. I watch Washington, a team I hated when I was a kid and now I envy them. I envy their fans because they are free from an awful owner.

Yes.
Even delusional casuals who think anyone that criticizes the team is not a real fan are jumping ship. I was at the doctor yesterday, and he told me one of his nurses, a diehard, threw away an entire room's worth of memorabilia. I personally know several people that sold their seat license like myself. My son's dentist told me they were thinking about selling their suite.

2009. That first went for the Roy Williams trade.

In my opinion of course, but in 2000-2002 at least it was during a time with a changing of the old guard. Aikman was getting concussions faster than Tua is prior to 2000, Mike had to retire and Emmitt was still good but slowing down. 2002 at least gave us some hope with Roy Biscuit Williams and Antonio Bryant.
And the last championship was 5-8 years ago. It was a rebuilding era, with a front office drafting busts.

This stretch we have a top 3 WR in his prime and a top 3 edge in his prime. Even in our winning years the team looked out of focus and easily knocked out of the playoffs.
We are set for purgatory of around .500 to 1 and done in the playoffs with those two players.
With a front office that believes free agency is forbidden to building a winning team, while bleeding out depth/mid starters every year due to their 4 year sentence being up.
The draft just replaces guys we've lost, not building on anything.

Its really ironic you say this as the Eagles await another conference championship game, a place we haven't been in 30 years. Wow

I have a gray Cowboys hoodie that was gifted to me a number of years ago I wore it to do some work on my septic system last month. Didn't have a care in the world what happened to it.

We made the playoffs three years in a row, I think that’s pretty darn good. For a young team with an inept coach and owner. Imagine if we didn’t have all those injuries.
That is surely excessive optimism right there. Getting to the first game of the playoffs means absolutely nothing anymore.

I mean 7 out of 16 teams in each conference make it to the playoffs by default so who cares. This team has sucked wins for 30 years and those of us who been around folllowing them for more than 40 will need to see more than first or even 2nd round playoffs to even get up out of our chair to see a try of hope with this team.

All that before we even get started on the senility of our owner who is absolutely running this team into the ground. To say it is just injuries is to be just that - excuses. When is the last time we actually tried to improve this team through free agency? How many times have this team been caught not understanding the rules in certain situations? Even now some calll this team very talented, but to EVERYONE else and many of us, you can see weakness everywhere. Finally, McCarthy was very bad in his offensive scheme and playcallling this year and again the culture has been very lacksadaisy.

I understand wanting to be optimistic, but at some point reality has to settle in and we are in for some serious reality, especially when we hire coaches that nobody else even loooks at to hire.

100% as far as I’m concerned.

The frustration for me is that everyone with a brain can understand Jerry and Stephen are mismanaging the team. They seem to think they’re the only team in the league that has to deal with the cap. They bungle everything from contracts to negotiations. The realization that this problem won’t go away because they own the team is what kills me.

As an aside, the Overshown injury is what really capped this as the worst season of memory for me.

Then again we need to realise that we need to s#ck even more before change happens. As unpopular it may appear, we need a 'homer' HC and further collapse, a collapse worse than 7-10.
The end of the season gave a glimmer of hope, we need that optimism extinguished, maybe then the pressure on Jerry will get to the point that he cracks.
