1991 Playoff loss to the Lions was gut wrenching. They just walked up and down the field with ease from start to finish. 38-6.

I dunno.. whatever the hell the Zeke as C was.. Dak running around wasting the precious few seconds we had to desperation.. all close. Frankly in some ways, the drubbing Arizona gave might be worse.

44-0 Chicago. hands down.
That happened against the 85 Bears, one of the all-time greatest teams and the Cowboys stunk. That Cowboys team was predicted to get pounded. Everyone thought this Cowboys team was great and they got beat down like they were playing the 85 Bears. Sunday nights loss may have been more embarrassing.

Is this the most embarrassing loss?

In my opinion? Absolutely not.

Answer: November 17, 1985. Chicago 44 Dallas 0. The date is burned into my memory.

That game was worse than Sunday's outcome because the Cowboys played relatively well during that beatdown decades ago. The Bears were just that dominate that season.

On the other hand, Dallas performed like poo poo overall Sunday night. It was an embarrassment but not the most embarrassing loss as far as I am concerned.

I can't think of a more embarrassing loss in the 45 years of following the Cowboys.
There have been game we should've won but came up short like the Giants 07 playoffs and Packers 16 playoffs.
We've been blown out before but those were teams that no one really expected much out of.
The game that mostly resembles this loss is ironically the 95 regular season loss to the 49ers.
We went into that game pretty cocky because Steve Young was hurt and Elvis Gerbac was starting and we got our butts whipped.
But at least that team had a history of success, they just had a bad day.
This 49ers loss was a total beat down on Primetime TV and after weeks of the team boasting how they had turn the corner and were ready to prove to the world that they were for real and wanted that Smoke.
Well, they didn't just have a Bad Day. They got overwhelmingly dominated in a fashion that proved they were no where close to being on the porch with the Big Dogs.
They are relegated to sleep under the porch with all the rest of the Beta Males while the Alphas sleep on the cushy patio furniture on the porch.
Several much worse.

Recency bias is helping you forget.

Stay with it.

Nope. McCarthy's first season was pretty bad. Wade Phillips loss that got him fired. The Texans beating the Cowboys as an expansion team..just a few.
I can remember some pretty embarrassing losses to the eagles when Mike Vick tore us up.

my consolation was next season we beat them 3 times in a row, and one of those being a blowout in the playoffs, thats why the vikings game after it stings so much

Yes that game was an all time bad loss.

Probably not the worst loss but...

This team didn't just lose, they got owned. A "contender" was exposed as just a pretender. The QB proved once and for all that he is inadequate. The ramifications of moving on from said QB are punishing. This team will suffer for seasons to come.

Threads topics like these always make me think of how NFL dominance differs before and after the current CBA era began in 1994.

Getting old.

No, not embarrassing. Disappoint, yes. The Cowboys have been blown out by worse teams than the 49ers. I would say the loss to Arizona was more embarrassing. But now when I look at that game I think maybe Arizona is actually the better team, backup QB and all.

I think the 2008 final game to go to the playoffs - 44-6 against the Eagles was more embarrassing. Especially because the year before we had won the NFC and expectations were so high for that season.

Yes, this one stings but we can bounce back from it.

The problem is it didn’t embarrass the folks it should’ve. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle dum. They’re still delusional our QB is going to take this team all the way.

Giants loss in playoffs when we were #1 seed, top offense, top 10 defense. got upset at home. or the 2008 game, win and you are in, then we got shallacked 44-6

but yeah, this is still one of the worst.
Giants game was a heartbreaker for sure…I was there and messed me up for weeks. But I wouldn’t call it embarrassing, just extremely disappointing. Especially since they ended up winning the SB.
