Is this the most embarrassing loss?

I don’t think this is the most embarrassing loss; Dallas lost to a superior team and most likely the NFC champions. It was the manner in which they lost; if a team is going to lose, make the other team earn it…don’t hand it to them, which is what I think Dallas did. I saw no fire, no urgency; when the 4th quarter came about Dallas quit. The SF running backs were running thru the Dallas defense. Just a bad game overall…Dalllas was out-coached and outplayed.
Excellent point.

I dont think most are upset because we lost, the 49ers are the better team, but it was the manner in which they lost.

No fight, no fire, and yeah I will say it, GIVE UP.

The 49ers literally broke their will to compete.................that is what nobody expected to see.

Losing to an expansion team in the inaugural game of their franchise history cannot be topped. It is, literally, the most humiliating experience a franchise can suffer. This is especially true if they have had a history of success and are losing more games at that particular point in time.

Any other team would look at a game against an expansion team in their first season as a freebee. A franchise would have to be absolutely pathetic to lose to a team of players that have never played a single gamed together with a coach they have never played for in a stadium that didn't exist until that preseason.

It was such a shock to everyone, including the Houston Texans, that they actually wrote a book about the game.

I mean....Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen, Darren Woodsen, Roy Williams, LaRoi Glove, Dat Nyguen, Dexter Coakley, Joey Galloway, Flozell Adams.......lost to a team that started 6 rookies on offense including the quarterback.

This wasn't just the most humiliating loss in Cowboys history., it was the most humiliating loss for any NFL team in league history.

Losing to an established contender by a wide margin is nothing compared to losing, by two scores, to a team that didn't exist until a few months ago.

The Replacements loss was even worse. Even though the Texans were an expansion team, and it was embarrassing, at least they were an actual NFL roster that went through a training camp and pre season.

In 1987, with most of the Cowboys starters crossing the strike picket line for Landry, they then lost to a Washington team made up of scab players who didn't even belong in the NFL. A movie was made based upon this starring Keanu Reeves.
