I have been at sports bars when this same thing happens. I love it. One time I asked a Packers fan what was going on against the Bears (their number one rival) and he said he'd go check.cowboyeric8;4252220 said:I watched the Seahawks game at a bar. The bar had about an equal distribution of Cowboys, Texans, Saints, and Steelers fans. The Cowboy fans were watching only the Cowboys game, and paid no attention to the other games on. However all the other fans were watching the Cowboys game as well. It was obvious because it got loud when the Seahawks did something well. They didn't even cheer as much for their respective team as much as they did against the Cowboys.
Gotta love it.

I mean there is probably a myriad of reasons. All of the super bowl success, much of the fame and glory of the nfl over 3 decades of football..., there are quite a few generations of fans that hate the cowboys.
I think what is glossed over is that the media is made up of football fans and football players/coaches... These people are just like normal fans... They hate the Cowboys, we're probably the most popular team in the nation, but we are also the most hated team in the nation.
That carries over directly to our current team and players.
The media also helps control the perception around the team and players.
They don't like Jerry, they don't like Romo. Tons of reasons for not liking Jerry, but a lot of people think Romo is this cocky hollywood type guy who came from nowhere and really doesn't care about football. They hate the fact that he is this big name despite not winning a super bowl yet. They destroy him in the media, with the hopes of destroying his career. They want him out of Dallas, so that Dallas doesn't win a super bowl. They would LOVE to see us get rid of him, and end up with a Tarvarias Jackson type ala Quincy Carter. The media has never been more scared.
Ask yourself why you hear about Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, and Jared Allen, but you don't hear about DeMarcus Ware or DeMarco Murray.
Explain why Philip Rivers was promoted to the status of elite qb and Romo is thrown under the bus. Dude leads the league in interceptions, yet he is getting a huge mulligan for the year, Romo can't even get a mulligan for two games, in which he isn't entirely responsible for.
I hear more about Sanchez and Flacco than I do Romo...
I can't wait til we win, because they won't have a choice but to talk about us. Like I said in my sig, the Cowboys are like Lord Voldermort, and NFL is scared to believe we are back. They WANT you to think that that isn't the case. It's basically the sum of all their fears.
When a season starts the media has two hopes. That we turn out like the Eagles, so they can talk all the crap about us that they can. Or two that we or just average enough that they don't even have to talk about us. Why do you think they want the Giants to win so badly, why they wanted the Commanders to win so badly in the beginning of the year, why they wanted to hail the Eagles as the dream team cometh. The Giants are the last bastion of defense until they are forced to talk about us. Forced to put us in their Top 5s and Top 10s.
They have built up EVERY team in our division this year. I hope you don't think that that's a coincidence.
Why do you think they raked Dez Bryant over the coals all year? Dude is a 2nd year receiver. Did we build him up too much too quickly? Yeah, probably, and like the title America's Team, they didn't appreciate that. Time to tear him down to earth. They don't want this kid to become the next greatest receiver... That doesn't suit their interest.
Romo had a 88.5% passing game... 3 TDs... haven't really heard about it at all this week. Murray is running better than any running back in the league... I don't hear about it. I hear Warren Sapp say he isn't sold on him... doesn't like the way he runs... :/ really...?

And Jerry even has it set up to where our popularity infringes on other teams territory. Did you know they'll show Cowboys games in northern Louisiana over Saints games? It's basically been that way for ever.
Our fans are annoying and entitled. And a high enough percentage of our fans are bandwaggon fans to discredit many of our real fans.
Not to mention, the arrogance of the team during its good yars. The gaudiness in which we enter the season when we think our team is going to do well it's sickening. Anyone tired of 'the dream team' talk earlier this year? The Cowboys have enjoyed 2 similar pre-seasons in the past 3 years that rivaled such hype. Both years we missed the playoffs. And you can bet your *** they'll hype us again next year even if we fail to do anything this year.
Let us not forget the cheerleaders! They have made an impact here as well. We had innovative marketing and thrived in the limelight and it made others jealous because we were awesome year in and year out to back up all the hype. Coach Landry didn't care for any of it and thought the "Americas Team" moniker would make other teams play extra hard against the Cowboys. He was of course, right about that presumption. You either love em' or hate em' their is no in between. Heck I couldn't envision rooting for any other team but I do like a few other teams as long as they aren't playing the Cowboys.jobberone;4251296 said:They hate us because we're always in the news, we have such a great heritage, and have had plenty of star players. Not to mention Landry.
We went to the NFL or NFC Championship game 10 out of 13 years and had 19 st8 winning seasons.

Dallas plays every Thanksgiving because no other team wanted to play as host every year. Dallas relished the opportunity and agreed to play every Thanksgiving. So the average fan doesn't realize their respective teams passed on the chance to be in American homes on turkey day. It's just easier to hate the Cowboys.forever22;4251455 said:They hate that they play on Thanksgiving every year.
5Stars;4251312 said:There is only one way to look at this.
Of all the fans in the NFL...50% love the Cowboys and 50% hate the Cowboys.
But, on game day 100% of the people watch our games.
Thus, America's Team.
