No one hates a doormat. People hate the Cowboys because they matter. Every season, win or lose.

That is why they are America's Team.

I watched the Seahawks game at a bar. The bar had about an equal distribution of Cowboys, Texans, Saints, and Steelers fans. The Cowboy fans were watching only the Cowboys game, and paid no attention to the other games on. However all the other fans were watching the Cowboys game as well. It was obvious because it got loud when the Seahawks did something well. They didn't even cheer as much for their respective team as much as they did against the Cowboys.

Gotta love it.

I have been at sports bars when this same thing happens. I love it. One time I asked a Packers fan what was going on against the Bears (their number one rival) and he said he'd go check.

I would have known every detail if he had asked me.

John Madden said a few years ago when Dallas was having a bad season, but the reason the Cowboys deserved to be on Monday Night Football anyway was because of their popularity/high ratings (poor paraphrase).

Your paraphrase was probably more coherent then his statement. :laugh2:

Quit simply put, the Cowboys are shoved in your face over and over and over again every year despite who is doing well. And Jerry even has it set up to where our popularity infringes on other teams territory. Did you know they'll show Cowboys games in northern Louisiana over Saints games? It's basically been that way for ever.

Our fans are annoying and entitled. And a high enough percentage of our fans are bandwaggon fans to discredit many of our real fans.

Not to mention, the arrogance of the team during its good yars. The gaudiness in which we enter the season when we think our team is going to do well it's sickening. Anyone tired of 'the dream team' talk earlier this year? The Cowboys have enjoyed 2 similar pre-seasons in the past 3 years that rivaled such hype. Both years we missed the playoffs. And you can bet your *** they'll hype us again next year even if we fail to do anything this year.

Calling ourselves America's Team. At the end of the day do you think this is the top reason why people hate us? Fans of other teams, players, the media.

I mean there is probably a myriad of reasons. All of the super bowl success, much of the fame and glory of the nfl over 3 decades of football..., there are quite a few generations of fans that hate the cowboys.

I think what is glossed over is that the media is made up of football fans and football players/coaches... These people are just like normal fans... They hate the Cowboys, we're probably the most popular team in the nation, but we are also the most hated team in the nation.

That carries over directly to our current team and players.

The media also helps control the perception around the team and players.

They don't like Jerry, they don't like Romo. Tons of reasons for not liking Jerry, but a lot of people think Romo is this cocky hollywood type guy who came from nowhere and really doesn't care about football. They hate the fact that he is this big name despite not winning a super bowl yet. They destroy him in the media, with the hopes of destroying his career. They want him out of Dallas, so that Dallas doesn't win a super bowl. They would LOVE to see us get rid of him, and end up with a Tarvarias Jackson type ala Quincy Carter. The media has never been more scared.

Ask yourself why you hear about Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, and Jared Allen, but you don't hear about DeMarcus Ware or DeMarco Murray.

Explain why Philip Rivers was promoted to the status of elite qb and Romo is thrown under the bus. Dude leads the league in interceptions, yet he is getting a huge mulligan for the year, Romo can't even get a mulligan for two games, in which he isn't entirely responsible for.

I hear more about Sanchez and Flacco than I do Romo...

I can't wait til we win, because they won't have a choice but to talk about us. Like I said in my sig, the Cowboys are like Lord Voldermort, and NFL is scared to believe we are back. They WANT you to think that that isn't the case. It's basically the sum of all their fears.

When a season starts the media has two hopes. That we turn out like the Eagles, so they can talk all the crap about us that they can. Or two that we or just average enough that they don't even have to talk about us. Why do you think they want the Giants to win so badly, why they wanted the Commanders to win so badly in the beginning of the year, why they wanted to hail the Eagles as the dream team cometh. The Giants are the last bastion of defense until they are forced to talk about us. Forced to put us in their Top 5s and Top 10s.

They have built up EVERY team in our division this year. I hope you don't think that that's a coincidence.

Why do you think they raked Dez Bryant over the coals all year? Dude is a 2nd year receiver. Did we build him up too much too quickly? Yeah, probably, and like the title America's Team, they didn't appreciate that. Time to tear him down to earth. They don't want this kid to become the next greatest receiver... That doesn't suit their interest.

Romo had a 88.5% passing game... 3 TDs... haven't really heard about it at all this week. Murray is running better than any running back in the league... I don't hear about it. I hear Warren Sapp say he isn't sold on him... doesn't like the way he runs... :/ really...?

Pople hate them because they are jealous of winning thats the genesis and the core, even though they havent been winning much lately, the damage is done already and the hating begets more hating, like interest on your money.

Growing up in NY I heard all these justifications - I hate them because of the way Landry was fired, I hate them because Irvin is a druggy and the way he points after a first down is arrogant, I hate them because they are south americas team, I hate them because Jimmy Johnson divorced his wife when he became head coach. I tell these people they are all full of fesces and they arent fooling me, you hate them because we beat your precious Giants over and over and over, so be honest with yourself and stop trying to struggle to find some moral reason to hate them, youre fooling no one.

They hate us because we're always in the news, we have such a great heritage, and have had plenty of star players. Not to mention Landry.

We went to the NFL or NFC Championship game 10 out of 13 years and had 19 st8 winning seasons.
Let us not forget the cheerleaders! They have made an impact here as well. We had innovative marketing and thrived in the limelight and it made others jealous because we were awesome year in and year out to back up all the hype. Coach Landry didn't care for any of it and thought the "Americas Team" moniker would make other teams play extra hard against the Cowboys. He was of course, right about that presumption. You either love em' or hate em' their is no in between. Heck I couldn't envision rooting for any other team but I do like a few other teams as long as they aren't playing the Cowboys.

The older fans hate us because we stole their teams' dreams and the younger ones hate us because their parents, aunts, and uncles do.

The Cowboys are the only franchise in the NFL with the kind of great historic rivalries, not just within the division, but outside it as well that we have. Just to name one the Cowboys-Commanders rivalry has frequently been named the greatest rivalry in football.

We also have STRONG rivalries with the Giants, Eagles, Packers, Steelers, AND 49ers and virtually every one of those teams has numerous SB wins to their name. We have played in more playoff games, conference championships, and Super Bowls than almost anyone and every step of the way there we stomped people.

You think the Bills don't remember 52-17 to this very day? They do. They know how close we got to breaking the scoring record against them in that Super Bowl and wanted nothing more than to pay us back. Instead they got 30-13.

You think the Broncos don't remember Morton and his 0 rating against us in that Super Bowl? They do.

The Vikings remember the Hail Mary game, the 49ers remember the 5 times we've kept them out of the Super Bowl, even the Packers remember the 3 years in a row where we knocked them out of the playoffs they've had more success against us than almost anyone.

Teams around the NFL hate us because they have very good reason to do so. There are very few teams in the NFC at least that haven't been repeatedly and brutally humiliated by the Cowboys and a number of teams in the AFC have been as well.

One: Jerry doesn't have a thing to do with what people in northern Louisiana watch.

Two: People in sourthern Louisiana don't think of northern Louisiana as Louisiana anyway. They view it as a part of Texas....And it's basically been that way forever.

They hate that they play on Thanksgiving every year.
Dallas plays every Thanksgiving because no other team wanted to play as host every year. Dallas relished the opportunity and agreed to play every Thanksgiving. So the average fan doesn't realize their respective teams passed on the chance to be in American homes on turkey day. It's just easier to hate the Cowboys.

There is only one way to look at this.

Of all the fans in the NFL...50% love the Cowboys and 50% hate the Cowboys.

But, on game day 100% of the people watch our games.

Thus, America's Team.

;)

I wouldn't say 50%..maybe 10% - 15% but i agree with the rest of this statement. Everyone watches us play...either to watch us win or lost..Everyone's a Dallas Cowboys fanatic...lol

Another reason why the media is down on us is they really based our success based on last year.

They see us as a 6-10 team that is currently just over .500

The Eagles won the division last year. And they they made a huge push in free agency...

Clear favorites. Everyone booked them to win the division. Probably in NFC Championship with Green Bay.

They fell apart early.

Washington Commanders had the same record as us, but came out to an early lead and we're 3-1. Everyone jumped off the Eagles band wagon, and we're like, hey well we're on the Commanders bandwagon now.

The Commanders fell apart.

Rather then give Dallas credit for having growing talent from a youthful team with a new defensive scheme, they look at last years standings, and they see the Giants we're 10-6 along with the Eagles. Their #1 standing despite being just 1 game ahead of the Cowboys, combined with their 10-6 record make people think that the Giants are "consistent"

No mention of the fact that the Giants went 6-2 in the first half last year, and then 4-4 the second half of the year. That is hardly consistent.

They lost the tie breaker with the Packers and that is why they didn't make the playoffs.

Green Bay barely made it into the playoffs last year. Just snuck by the Giants and Tampa Bay.

Green Bay had a lot of struggles early on last year too. Lost a lot of close games.

Started 3-3, then they were 8-6, had to win their last two games to go the playoffs.

You can't ignore that we have an easier schedule, have more talent, and have performed better in common games.

But the thing is

1)They don't want to believe the cowboys are good.
2)They don't want to flip flop 4 times in a year.

It looks bad for them to say, EAGLES, SKINS, GIANTS, COWBOYS, GIANTS

If they're going to be wrong, they would like to be wrong at 3 not 4.

I think it's because the Cowboys have so many fans and get so much attention. I saw a Cowboys hater on the internet refer to the Cowboys as a "pretty boy team" with the fancy stadium. :laugh2:

Some of it's our fault (Jerry's outspokenness; certain arrogant players; our embrace of the "America's Team" moniker). Some of it's their fault (jealous of our historical on-field success; TV exposure; Thanksgiving advantage; uniforms; glitzy stadium; etc).
