Not that I believe you rated him anything at all, but if you had, you would have been the only draft expert to have done so.

I'm confused.......I thought this was settled. If this is STILL a question, it raises serious concerns they have about Guyton, IMO, not to mention he's competing with Thomas.

Tyler Smith at OT would mean a failure at 3 OL positions. Think about it.

Yes, they did. And his scouting report did not support that. One of the weirdest things I've seen in the draft.

This is one area where I think sabermetrics have improved the NFL draft process. It's true that Claiborne was unanimously rated as a blue chipper around 2012, and it's also true that he really had no business being there.

Claiborne's measurables were very average. His athletic profile is like CB2 material. On tape of course, he was a unanimous 1st team All-American, the dude was a monster. But with an athletic profile like this, there's no way he was the "best corner since Deion" like Jerrall was touting. I would guess that if Mo was coming out in the draft today, he'd be picked in the 15-25 zone.

Maybe you could comp Mo to Mansoor Delane this year - another LSU guy, another 6th overall pick, not a physical freak - but I think that Delane is a step more athletic than Mo was. Delane is one of the quickest CBs I've seen, he's just not that straight-line fast. Mo was an average mover across the board and wasn't strong, his only standout traits were his length and ball skills.


On a related note, I got looking back at some of the busts at DE in this century (because it's a reliable position to scout with numbers) and some of the guys getting drafted 1st round were insane. Sabermetrics has DEFINITELY done some cleanup in recent years.

The Chiefs took Tyson Jackson #3 overall with this profile. Yeah, he had good tape (not top 3 tape), but his measurables were CFL level. There's little surprise that he busted hard - he was a career rotational type player.

If Jackson entered the draft in 2026, he wouldn't sniff the top five. He'd be a pure tape-over-traits gamble who'd probably go somewhere on Day 2.
