I just heard a small portion of the morning show today, but Steve Dennis was not on the air today (he was the day before) and Jennifer Engel was referring to the show as "The Little Ball of Hate" show. I just checked out their website and there is no mention of Dennis anymore as it appears Engel is flying solo now with help from some of her crew members. I didn't really like Dennis, but if they were going to get rid of him, they should have gotten rid of Engel too. I know their ratings stink and that's when changes are made, but if they want to try and compete in the slightest with the Ticket, why don't they actually go out and hire some talented people who are good broadcasters unlike most of the people who currently work at that station.

The Tickett is getting buried by ESPN.

I liked Dennis much much better than the Little Ball of Poop.

No, he's wrong. In the last ratings book, ESPN radio did their best ever and still got beat out by the Ticket a pretty wide margin. The Ticket is pretty stiff competition as they are definitely one of the most successful sports radio stations in the country with an incredibly loyal listener base.

From the Dallas Morning News:

ESPN averaged a best-ever 1.9 share to finish 23rd in the crowded market, according to Arbitron. Meanwhile, The Ticket (1310-AM) scored a 2.8 share to finish 13th.

In men's 25-54, the most desirable demographic for sports talk, The Ticket was No. 1 with a 7.4 share, while ESPN scored a 3.9 to finish seventh.

If you really want good NFL radio, get Sirius. It's awesome having NFL radio 24/7 even during the off-season. I used to hate it during the start of football season when ESPN radio would have a bunch of stupid baseball crap interrupting my NFL fix - no more with Sirius!

If they did fire him, it must have been today. He was on there yesterday with Jenn, and Radigan talking about Ohio State. Apparently he is an OSU alum.

I didn't tune in today, did they say he was no longer on the show, or is this an assumption?

The Ticket has been around for a long time and is very established, I think this is only the 6th year for ESPN here, they started around the same time I came to town.

I wonder what happened with Dennis though, wish I would have listened the past couple days.

Wow, ESPN claims it is the most listened to sports station in the Metroplex all the time on commercials throughout the day. Is that legal?

I heard one time listening to the ticket that they were like the biggest, or most listen too sports talk station in the nation?

I heard him asking questions at the PC today, so he must be working for someone?
He is probably still working for Babe at Channel 11 even if he lost his gig at 103.3

Why? Babe is the best sportscaster in the D/FW market. I always tune in to Channel 11 and it is inspite of, not because of Steve Dennis.

Yeah, I did here him on the show on Tuesday, but he wasn't there today. During the parts I listened to today, they never mentioned Dennis being gone, but they are now referring to the show as "The Little Ball of Hate Show" instead of the Dennis and Engel show. On their website, Steve Dennis' name and pictures no longer appear anywhere on the site and it also has this little note on there saying welcome the newest show to the ESPN Lineup, The Little Ball of Hate Show with "The Little Ball of Hate", Jennifer Engel (Star-Telegram), Mike Taylor and Randy "Nasty Boy" Myers - Weekdays, from 9 AM - 12 Noon.

It's weird that he could be there one day and gone the next, but maybe his contract just expired. They do have a new guy in charge over there as the program director as the old one went to work for the national ESPN Radio in Bristol so that's usually when changes get made.

My gosh I hope he didnt lose his job.

He was the only one who knew how to keep Jen on her leash.

They just got new management down there because that Scott Masteller left the station.

I dont know who is stupid enough to give Jen her own show like that.

With all that said I do enjoy Mike Taylor. He might actually do a little pimp slapping.

I liked Steve Dennis, sure he was a little goofy but also in alot of ways, more realistic than all of the other local ESPN radio crew regarding Dallas. But it doesn't surprise me, this has been going on for years with the Tickett, they get rid of all the cool guys and keep the sticks in the mud. Par for Dallas radio. They love to hate them some Cowboys.

I have several thoughts on this topic;

1) First, they need to stop Mike & Mike in the morning. While the show can be nice at times, it's not relevant to the local market 95% of the time. There's a reason The Ticket plays the national feed between 10p and 4:30am. People want local, not Yankees/Sox talk for 2 hours.

2) They fired the wrong person. Galloway is the one that needs to go. Galloway has been using the same schtick for 10 years, and he's so ridiculously anti-Cowboys that it drives all but the most ardent homers or ardent Cowboys haters away. I was tired of the Eldorado bit within 2 days of TO signing here. So is everyone else. Galloway brings absolutely nothing.

3) Sooner or later, ESPN radio will have to either accept their fate in the ratings or adapt. Being a totally Sports radio station is nice, but it gets old. Sports news isn't made on a daily basis....especially on a local level. The Ticket, and it may seem a flaw to many of you, figured this out.

The Ticket is the true ENTERTAINMENT SPORTS programming network. It's both entertainment and sports, it's what ESPN tries to be but is too constrained. A TO signing or a Kenny Rogers cameraman incident doesn't happen every day. Some days there just isn't any real local and relevant sports to cover, and on those days people want entertainment. The Ticket not only filled that role, but created what I believe to be the most loyal following of listeners in the country.

4) If you're going to ignore my above point and try to be a strictly sports station, how do you not hire the best true sports radio man in the city, Norm Hitzges? Love him or hate him, no one knows more about sports than Norm.

4) And finally, I am a bit saddened by this. To be fair, I only listed to D&E when Norm was on vacation or during commercials, and I did think Steve Dennis lacked personality....but I enjoyed their show. They somehow worked together fairly well.

Well, if he doesn't show up tomorrow, then they have to tell us why a long-time regular is no longer there. Did they think we'd fail to notice his absence?

Breaking News!!!!

Steve Dennis is replacing Dan on the Bob and Dan Show! fans of the Ticket are so tired of being wipped by Dan and his constant interruptions, that they would rather put up with Steve Dennis' "over-loud voice/mouth".

This of course IMHO.

Dan, shut up please and let Bob ramble? thank you

Considering they changed the name of the show and there is no trace of the guy on the site, do you really think anything but him leaving is possible?????? I do agree they HAVE to explain it at some point soon, or risk looking like total morons.

This would make me QQ

Dan is the ying to Bob's yang.

Bob is what makes BaD radio a great sports show. Dan is what makes it freaking hilarious.
