While his record is surely one measurement , another measurement is where did he leave the team from where he took over.Much as I liked Parcells as the coach, if for his personality if nothing else, I can't agree he "worked out very well". In 4 years, only made the playoffs twice and lost the first game both times. 34-31 or such overall record. Yes I know he took over a team that was 5-11 for 3 years straight, but coaches are judged by their record, and his record at Dallas was only so-so...
He took over arguably the Cowboys at his lowest point in Jerry era since 1989 after 3 straight 5-11seasons to rebuilding into a playoff contender. One that was set up for greater success.
2003 was perhaps the best coaching job in this era taking that 5-11 team to the playoffs with Quincy as QB.
