It was bound to happen sooner or later

seems a bit co-incidental its happened so soon after gaddafi claimed he would be targeting nato members. are norway not very highly involved in libya? i'd imagine a hell of a lot groups will be claiming responsibility

There's an image making the rounds from an nrk(? norwegian network?) tv feed that shows several bodies floating in the water.

Some Islamic group is claiming responsibility, what a shocker

When people wake up and realize what we're facing, then maybe things will change. These radicals have no soul; they have no sympathy or mercy for woman and children.

This is a tragedy for a peaceful country.

Peaceful countries mean nothing to these folks. They don't distinguish based on that factor. Any non-Muslim country is an infidel and considered an enemy.

And Ren said it earlier, it was bound to happen sooner or later. It's very common knowledge amongst the US law enforcement community that our schools are the softest targets out there. I'm surprised it hasn't happened here yet but all it takes is a couple of nuts with an extreme agenda in the name of religion who are willing to die for their cause. Think Beslan, Russia for how far these Muslim extremists will go....animals...............

Current official death toll from Utøya is 9-10 according to Oslo police

The shooter is currently being interrogated

Ok let's not get off in to a political/religious debate

I didn't see any debate, everyone pretty much agrees.

Seems like the main news paper here have figured out who did this, probably not that hard if they followed the police who just raided his apartment. You're not allowed to publish names or pics of criminals here so here's hoping the paper leaks it something they have done in extreme cases in the past so we'll have a face to focus our hatred on

Edit: and just as i posted that they did

Very sad, but not surprising. Europe's universal policy of endless tolerance and political correctness makes stuff like this inevitable.

He's not making it any better, if anything it's only going to get worse now thanks to him

The gunman is on the lose on the island where the prime minister was i'm guessing most of the swat guys are down town so he'll probably have to deal with special forces soldiers. I hope they shot to kill and don't try to take this guy alive. Norwegian prisons are a joke (flat screen TVs on the cells and stuff like that) and the max sentence here is 21 years. Way to good for this guy who just killed 4 kids

If I ever get accused of a crime, i'm requesting Norweigen courts!

Police just adjusted the death toll from Utøya from 10 to 80 people killed

80 people killed and that's not counting the once in the bomb blast :(

Glad you ok Ren....Prayer For all those affected by this crime

Indeed Norwegian Prison looks more like a holiday resort

At some point, European nations are going to have to either start standing up for themselves at the expense of offending a lot of people or start figuring out how to live once the evils of the world swallow their entire continent, because they are well on their way to the latter. Between Islamic extremists mulitplying like locusts, radicals and sociopaths who don't fear the judicial or prison systems and the increasing accomodation and passivism directed towards all the people who would do them harm, I don't see how Europe as a whole can continue to function in it's current state for much longer.
