Never said they were. And I probably wouldn't even go as far as the mayor. Security can solve some problems.

However, in this particular instance the primary problem here is not the lack of security, but the lack of respect for other people. Specifically the jingoistic ideology of certain segments of the European population. That is what led to this massacre.

I didn't say you said they were. I would be hesitant to overlay the actions of this one individual on an ambiguous "segment of the European population." That's where a lack of respect starts.

The mayor of Oslo - who I dare say probably knows more than you about the country - has a different take, “I don’t think security can solve problems. We need to teach greater respect.” If you take a look at this monster's recently released manifesto you would see that he has a serious lack of respect for other people. Maybe Europeans should stop demonizing foreigners and learn to see immigration as a boon to their country (it certainly has done America well). It is this demonizing of foreigners by certain segments of the European population that has led to this massacre.

Security might not solve the problem but that's not really the point, the point is to keep your citizens safe something they failed miserably at. You can't ignore it out of fear that it might offend someone.

I don't think anyone is saying we should ignore it, but that is not the root of the problem.

In any Internet forum, there's a general tendency for posters to let their biases cloud their interpretation of what they're reading. They respond to what they think is being said rather than what is actually being said.
