It's about time to hang up the curtain on our boy Jason Witten. Hate to say it but all NFL players get old and lose a step or two and Witten is no different.

To me it seems like he's just a shell of himself. I never see him able to hit the seems like years past or even be much of a factor besides grabbing 5 yard passes when the O-line gives Romo decades to pass. I don't think he should be benched, but rather have his snap count cut by 40% for now. So we can use this great young weapon in Escobar with his fresh legs!

If your biggest argument is Jason Wittens 5 catches for 70yds against the Washington Commanders while we had our back up QB, focusing on him as a safety blanket than your are eyes are clouded my friend. Don't know how long youve been watching this team, but for the season already 5 games shy away from being over and Witten hasn't reached 500yards or even a 100yd game yet. He completely deserves part of the blame in the offense sputtering...


Jason Witten had plenty of star performance games when Terrell Owens was on the field also when even Roy Williams became a team member. And neither of those guys commanded as much attention as Dez Bryant is getting this year

Wouldn't call 470 yards and 4 touch downs productive from a so called star Tight end and safety blanket. I'd call that sluggish and ineffective. Can't get complacent with the older players off of what they "have did" instead of what they are "are doing". There's a Reason why the good teams stay at the upper echelon and we've just now got a taste of it with it drying up fast.

You need to watch him a little closer then. He blocks well and has blocked well enough for Murray to turn the corner for scores on several occasions this season. He goes where Williams won't and takes the hits Williams won't. Your post is way off.

I didn't mention any of this so it would appear the argument is with voices in your head. I've been watching for 22 years and Witten is not a liability. Escobar is not that much of an asset. And the measure of a tight end isn't 100 yard games. Beasley emerging as a third down marker mover is going to detract from Jason's numbers, same with Murrays carries. I was at the Jags game sitting at the end zone when he ran down the seam and had Romo miss him. Looked sharp to me. But I'm no expert on fresh legs.

I have been saying the same , JW has been great but his YAC has disappeared for 2-3 years , it's a shame a TE can't even break a tackle long enough to get a single yard for a 1st down . His blocking is still good but sometime they overestimate , like him blocking JPP alone , also I remember in that botched playoff game Ray Allen made a mincemeat of him on way to Romo .

if they really believe Escobar ( if not wonder why a 2nd round pick was invested) they need to let him have more snaps so that we can see if he has it and his speed and reach will be a definite help , in the thanksgiving game the speed differential between the teams was so apparent.

At the same time I'm for giving more snaps for Street than Williams , as street was supposed to be a better route runner

Witten's decline is way low on the list of worries right now. I do agree they could try to get Escobar a little more involved though.

Yes! I grow tired of a 240 pound tightend getting tackled by a corner in slow motion for a 5 yard gain on 3rd and 6+. Or Witten doing one of his famous juke moves that my Deceased grandma could keep up with.

Seems like he's just lost his physical nature. Even in the Run Game he doesn't demolish anyone, he takes poeple out of the play. Which I have nothing wrong with, just would prefer more

I don't wear shades! You post this after a loss to think you have some kind of point and you don't. Witten is critical to our offense because of his ability to block and catch. Find me a TE that does both as good as Witten.

That catch he made on our game winning drive against the Giants was pretty productive.

We have alot of weapons on offense, and we are giving the ball to our running back on twice as many offensive snaps. There is only one ball in the game, can't always feed Witten to prop his numbers up so forum members don't dogpile him...
