It's almost over

Longtime fans like myself are losing interest, and even those in football who were once associated with the great Cowboys teams of the past are slowly disappearing.
Fans who were old enough to enjoy the success of the early nineties are also getting older.
But the fanbase of children who have never known how good this Cowboys franchise once was is Jerry's legacy. And it will not be as strong as the fans that made this "America's Team".
Most of us older fans are fed up. We KNOW how bad it has gotten because we witnessed the teams that made this franchise great.
Jerry's circus hype is not selling anymore. His arrogance in kicking the fans in the teeth as he insisted on shoving incompetence in players and coaches down the throats of the very fans that made this franchise the most loved franchise in sports is finally catching up with him.
That $260 million abomination of a contract he slipped to his latest pet player and that he tried to pass off with the hoopla from last years opening day is the poison pill that finished off most long-time fans.
I don't think these Cowboys will enjoy the fan support this season that they have in the past.
The charade is almost over.
so just go away. Put yourself out of your misery. Go by so Olympia beer, get an el camino, put on some roller skates, and just roll off into the sunset. The sport s over for you..... so just fade away into the sunset.

I’m still a diehard cowboys fan, but I’ve also become more of an NFL fan….i enjoy watching lots of games and following how some other teams and players are doing. I don’t watch other sports, and I’ll be damned if I let Jerry and repeated cowboy disappointment poison my enjoyment of the game overall. I won’t be mentally able to adopt another team as “my team”, I just can’t do it….ill always closely follow the cowboys and be emotionally invested…..but I have learned to still enjoy football in general outside of ONLY cowboys games.

besides the chiefs and pats, im not sure any other owner in the league has delivered their fans more lombardi trophies than Jerry.

That was Jimmy though, 30 years ago. That team was so clearly jimmys doing, the players all admit it, others in the league all admit it….jerry is just a narcissist….all the signs point to it, he just wants to do it his way no matter what. No ability to reflect on his bad GMing, the constant need to do interviews when he’s literally the only owner who does it…..he’s gonna do it his way or die trying. Thats the frustrating part, more than just the losing since lots of teams lose……its how he can be a part of the failure but unwilling to correct it.

Look at that outfit in the desert the Bidwell clan . Mediocrity and abysmal failure . Then you have the Irsay daughters one of whom is threatening to be in the sideline head set on to monitor how her $ is spent . Johnson and Johnson has alot of band aids and first aid $$ but can’t buy success in Jets land .

Dallas makes some of these family situations look downright pitiful . Sure Ford sells alot of cars , hasn’t driven that team to one stinking SB.

:starspin:

Don’t forget Barry .

Im tired of naming the others. Dolphins, Bears, Niners, Jets, and on and on and on.....no titles in 20, 30, 40, 50 NEVER years, But we dont care about that.

Its interesting. Normally the hype train is in full effect by now. Dallas has tried to get it going and the fanbase has collectively said "nope, not this time."

If Dallas gets a few early wins that may change but if they start out of the gate poorly, I suspect the Cowboys are going to see record levels of fan disinterest.
Any new coach deserves some time to get it all working his way.

I agree with a lot of what guy said, except for one major thing. There are tons of fans still buying it. Just a new generation of them. They still have the highest ratings, by far. They still sale the most merchandise. They still make the most and are worth the most. Why? Because of people still buying what hes selling at a record pace. It amazes me, but it’s true.

I agree, old fellow, but strongly disagree that Today's circus is not selling anymore. One thing surer than rain in London is higher Franchise revenue year after year.

ur not thinking this through….ur asking it as if its allllll Jerry’s doing lol. I’m talking about who is responsible for the winning….and if you think Jerry is lol…….

U act as if it’s the owner who does the coaching and drafting, as if they are the ones who earned SB wins? In the cowboys case, Jerry has been the GM and controlling personnel since Jimmy left….tell me how that he’s done since….since you want to give him the credit for those super bowls.

Big question is, why the hell you shilling for him? Why are you being disingenuous and backing him as if his job as GM is worth defending?

100%. I don't get this need some posters have to defend an obvious moron like Jerry. I guess some people are "company men" and simply buy the idea Jerry can do no wrong.

Yet record attendance and the value of the franchise keeps going up and they have 3 of the top 20 jersey sales in NFL. Cowboys were on national TV 17 weeks last year with 5 prime time games. The Cowboys are still a draw.

The popularity is there. The older fans are tired but they dont represent the majority.
Camp was dead last Summer.

Fans walked.

I hope they are back.

But during the 60's the Cowboys were moving up; climbing to the top and beating quality opponents. Their two losses to Green Bay were both in the final seconds. It wasn't like this group.
And a lot of these players are very talented. There have been some talented rosters wasted by weak links- players and a head coach that were/are not NFL caliber that sunk the team's hopes each year.
It is Jerry's insistence on hiring his pet cats that has continually sabotaged the team.
First it was Marion Barber Jr, the drive killer. At the same time he kicked fans in the teeth and put Jason Garrett in charge, leaving the team leaderless at the head coach position.
Before Garrett was finally let go, he instilled Dak Prescott at quarterback, ensuring that his legacy of excuses and working the media with soundbites lived on. Dak Prescott IS Garrett 2.0.
Jerry’s arrogance and stupidity in hiring and overpaying inept players and coaches have cost the Cowboys and their fans at least three more rings.
So how do you possibly blame one person after that explanation. That’s why it’s called a team you picked up for the week link

I don't blame one person.
I blame the three persons named in that post, who single handedly cost the team on the field.
Dak has cost the Cowboys at least one ring. Barber cost them dearly, but with Garrett at the head coaching spot they cost the Cowboys at least two.
But to me, these men(?) should have been more appreciative of the spot they were/are in and should have had enough conviction to be better.
But they cash(ed) their checks and went on their merry way, unconcerned about the damage they were/are doing to the franchise.
And Jerry allowed it.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me where I said Jerry, or any owner or GM is responsible for the winning.
What I find hilarious is how everyone wants to not count the 3 SBs and then say,,... ok now lets keep track. It doesnt work that way.
Jerry has 3 sb wins for me, the fan since his arrival. Thats it, fact, period.

My point is that the salary cap started because of the Cowboys and Niners dominance. That salary cap has done exactly as it was designed to do. All of these teams are relatively close in talent level. The one piece that tips the scales is the qb. All you need to do is look at the Chiefs and Pats as evidence. With Brady, the pats were almost always a legit contender. hmmm, sound familiar with the Chiefs AFTER Mahomes arrival?

Then for some strange reason, Brady left and the Pats IMMEDIATELY sucked and have sucked ever since, including the great Billy Boy coach getting sent packing.

IM quite the opposite actually. Players win and players lose. It was Jerry that Fumbled in Green Bay in that playoff game.
It wasnt Jerry that got torched last year by Jordan Love. Remind me, was it Dak or Jerry that sucked in that game last year against Green Bay?
