It's hard for me to care about football/Cowboys anymore

I completely understand the apathy. Personally I struggled all year to find optimism around the team, but I was also able to shift my focus towards watching individual player film as well as keeping up with the rest of the league. I missed more live Cowboys games than I ever have in the past, but have also probably watched 5x as much football as I ever have. It was an odd year for me for sure.

Cowboys, Giants, Dolphins, Cardinals, Raiders fans have been preaching the same sentiment throughout the internets this year. Meanwhile, Bills, Ravens, Lions, Chargers, Vikings fans have proclaimed the NFL has never been as exciting as it is right now. I wonder what the connecting factor is there…

Dallas will win 5-6 games next year before Halloween, and this board will be lit up with people saying how excited they are for the future of Cowboys football. It’s just one bad season; it’ll pass.

Some of you guys take this way to seriously. I took it seriously when I played or coached....I had control and it paid the bills....the Cowboys are just a distraction and entertainment. Sure, I want to win a SB every year, but I sure as hell know that I have no input or control...so, I take it with a grain of salt. I used to let it get to me, now the only thing I don't like are the negative nancies, although they keep it humorous....

For most teams I would agree, but the fan apathy for the Cowboys seems to still be lingering since the Green Bay loss. The losing season just seems to be adding to the issue. I'm not sure if it really matters to Jerry though....on one hand hes created super bowl or bust expectations for nearly two decades and some fans have grown tired of it, and probably wont be satisfied without a championship game appearance or a significant overhaul of the roster or coaching staff. On the other hand there is no shortage of Cowboy fans so the stadium will continue to be full and ratings will be through the roof.

To me, I will gain optimism if they break the trend of doing nothing in March. Don't need to sign the top FA's but at least address holes smartly and get some mid level guys signed so our draft plans aren't obvious.

If it's the same ole, I strongly disagree with Lion that myself or others will be flipping the switch by Halloween even if they are above .500

Yeah I think this is almost more important than them winning 10 games next season. Fans want to see something other than the same approach that has now failed for the last 15 years.

last offseason/season have really done a number on me. I get almost no joy from watching or following The Cowboys anymore, I’m checking into podcast/groups out of 20yrs of habit. I don’t see any evidence that the joneses actually care about winning, Jerry seems much more interested in being a star and Stephen seems to take a cowardly approach to everything. I’m a fan of Dallas because I’m from DFW but I don’t want to be a fan of a team that has 0 motivation to win championships. It would be a different story if I could point to things that the organization is doing to try and win but I can’t find any.
Yep, pretty spot on.
I feel the same way.
I had no joy watching this team this year.
I actually was hoping that they did not win another game, in hopes it would force Jerry to hire a real GM.
Kind of a sad way to follow a team.
As a 50 year fan, who has gotten a lot on enjoyment from following this team, I can't believe what this team has become.
It's run like an entertainment cash cow, and not like a team serious about winning SB's.

I have the same sentiment…. Waiting 30 years for some sign of true ‘all in’ only to set up for another disappointing year

It’s much more than one bad season with Jerry and his kid. Every other team you mentioned will hold GMs accountable, not have them stick around for life. There’s no other situation like this.

I come here mainly due to being a member for almost 20 years more-so than being excited about the Cowboys.
My optimism for the Cowboys is at an all time low. Like 2000-02 levels, but back then I had more hopium on young guys developing.
I hear you but even back in 2000-02 they were at least 5-6 years removed from winning a super bowl. Then Jerrah hired Parcess because he needed a new stadium which gave us hope. Now? This is an all time low. It's been so long since 96 and the ceiling with Jerry Jones as the GM is a divisional round appearance in the playoffs that's it. It's sad that we have to wait the guy out until he dies for us to have any hope. This is by far the darkest and longest period of being a Cowboys fan with zero light at the end of the tunnel. Once you realize that then the Cowboys become non important to you which they did this last season for me.

During the depths of the Garrett years, I tuned the team out, but made up for it by watching more college and other NFL teams.

If you love the sport, don't let Jerry's incompetence and selfishness turn you away from an entire sport -- the greatest team sport in the world.

As a fan since 1963 yesterday, after hearing about how JJ did not play Rush and he didn't get his 250k bonus I actually asked myself if I still wanted to be a fan any longer. Jerry is a real ********! I live in upstate NY and perhaps the Bills should get my support I thought. I haven't jumped yet but this has brought me to the brink of jumping.
