It's hard for me to care about football/Cowboys anymore

It's called apathy. I watch the games, I root for that team but at the edd of the day I have no emotional investment if they win or lose. Thats on Jerry. That is what he has done to the long time fans.

last offseason/season have really done a number on me. I get almost no joy from watching or following The Cowboys anymore, I’m checking into podcast/groups out of 20yrs of habit. I don’t see any evidence that the joneses actually care about winning, Jerry seems much more interested in being a star and Stephen seems to take a cowardly approach to everything. I’m a fan of Dallas because I’m from DFW but I don’t want to be a fan of a team that has 0 motivation to win championships. It would be a different story if I could point to things that the organization is doing to try and win but I can’t find any.

I only watch live because my mom became a super fan to have something to relate to me and my brother about. Otherwise i would just go ride my bike around NYC while the first half would be doing whatever and then come back with decent timing to blast through every commercial. Watching games live with all the stoppages is a total beating and a waste of a Sunday.
But Jerry don't need my money!

Some of you guys take this way to seriously. I took it seriously when I played or coached....I had control and it paid the bills....the Cowboys are just a distraction and entertainment. Sure, I want to win a SB every year, but I sure as hell know that I have no input or control...so, I take it with a grain of salt. I used to let it get to me, now the only thing I don't like are the negative nancies, although they keep it humorous....

Yep. It’s only happened recently, but I have completely given up on winning anytime soon, or under the current circumstances.

I hate that guy so much for that, and I’m to where I just want him to fail and humiliate himself. That’s what one man’s ego has done to the NFL for me.

At least I don’t have to root too hard for Jerry’s failure, he’s got that part handled and this team is headed directly into the toilet. That should be fun as he approaches 90 and still insists on pushing his nonsense.

The organization that used to represent the class of the league, is now based on a complete lie and sham, just so ego boy can take his “credit” should things happen to go well. They aren’t qualified and misevaluate just about everything, yet refuse change and spew a constant stream of excuses for their ineptitude.

My BFF @Risen Star posted something several weeks ago that really stuck with me, along the lines of even if they happen to get lucky and actually win something, it would be tainted due to the hatred of the clowns in charge.

Both literally and figuratively, that’s quite the no-win situation.

I get the amusement part but how is this crap show enjoyable to any fan? I watched 4-5 games this season and the only enjoyment I got was rooting for a blowout loss. I was was amused…I’ll give you that.

Even rooting for losses thinking it will bring about change is a lost cause....I did that for over half of the Clapping Carrot era...sorry, error....and it made zero difference....I thought with 100% certainty that the Green Bay loss and the blowouts at home would mean change this season....boy, was I wrong....again!!!

I pretty much lost all faith in the Cowboys when the owner proclaimed he was "all in" and did almost nothing to make the team better, both before and during the season.

and "swinging for the fences" looking for a coach and the proceeded to hire Zim on a 1 year deal.

We will see what nonsense he comes up with this offseason.

You hear the rest of the league talking about trying to get better and these two moaning over how the rules prevent it…yet defending what a great job they are doing.

It hit me a few days ago that during that dark era that the team was only 5-7 years since from the last SB run. There was at least hope that they could go back once they found a QB...Especially after the talks of Parcells coming here.
Didn't feel like that long ago till recently.
Right now, not much for me to get excited about.



I agree. 3 times going 12-5 with little postseason success really has jaded the accomplishment of winning 12 games.

To go 12-5 3 straight years and not even make the NFC championship game once has never happened before until the Cowboys of course.
The fact they were right there and Jerry just sat on his hands and didn't go all in just shows you how committed he is to winning. They had a pretty good roster and were one big move or two away from getting to an NFC championship and beyond.

I watch the game, like I do any other game. I enjoy the flow of the game, I catch myself looking at technique, foot and hand placement...the game is a chess match to me, the ebb and flow, the games within the game...I don't get caught up in the emotions of it very often. That takes away my enjoyment....that's just me.
BTW...you are a great poster with good points, but I can't see how any fan would root for their team to get blown out.

As apathetic as we all are there are massive amounts of suckers that keep the Jones cash flow going. If the Cowboy games weren't free I would be totally removed from them.

My best friend over the last 20+ years is a lifelong Detroit Lions fans. Until last year, the Lions had won just ONE playoff game since 1957 (Of course, THAT win was against us). That's 66 years! I get that the Cowboys aren't living up to your expectations, but I think that you have failed completely to understand that it can ALWAYS be worse.

I'll bleed Blue and Silver until the day that I die and there will probably be a star on my headstone.
