It's October and the division is already lost

It's still early in the school year. We have much learning to do.

With that said ... we lost two games which were totally winnable. Last year, we won several games in the last moment. This year, it's simply reversed. We could easily be 4-1 right now. So let's play our game, and win some games. One at a time.

How many wins did he give you last season? How soon we forget...

Who? Elliott?

It's hard to quantify how many wins he gave us. I mean how many wins does he give us last year if his QB is Kellen Moore and not Dak Prescott?

Personally, I think this team would win more games with Dak + McFadden/Morris than if it were Kellen Moore + Elliott. That's not to say that Elliott isn't a fine player and that he and Dak give us the greatest chance at winning games.

It's just that I think people completely overvalue how important Elliott was to our season last year. To me, Dak was the MVP, not Elliott.

Let's try again.

In debating strength of schedule of each team IN TERMS OF GAMES PLAYED NOT GAMES TO COME the Eagles have not played a "cupcake schedule" compared to us, as you clearly said in an earlier post.

We aren't talking about GAMES YET TO BE PLAYED THIS SEASON. We are simply talking about games already played and who has played a tougher slate of teams SO FAR THIS SEASON (5 games for the Cowboys, 6 games for the Eagles). Forget future teams on the schedule. Discuss simply the teams the Eagles and Cowboys have played thus far and how that factors into each team's record THUS FAR.

You very clearly are suggesting a big reason the Eagles are 5-1 and we are 2-3 is because we've PLAYED A MUCH TOUGHER SLATE OF TEAMS THUS FAR compared to Philly. That's false. As has been explained to you multiple times.

Please refrain from a silly response where you bring up a team that we will PLAY IN THE FUTURE. That is not applicable to a discussion on strength of schedules TO DATE.
You want to be blind to the games ahead of us because you think that helps your argument? The Cowboys have lost 2 games that we knew would be hard to win and blown another that should have been won at home. The iggles lost 1 of 2 games that we knew would be hard to win. That doesn't make their schedule harder just because they won a hard game.

2 winning seasons out of 7.

Maybe you missed it the first time it was pointed out to you.

That's a 28.571429%.

That's sucks. But you continue to talk like a guy with a record like that is somehow beyond reproach or questioning, or firing.

For some people, it's the same thing they used to defend the guy in 2015 when this team failed too. "But we actually won in 2014!"

More and more of us want off the roller coaster of mediocrity. Everything they could change has been changed. Time to face reality.

No, you're the type of fan that wants instantaneously results at the first sign of trouble with this team. Unless you think Jerry is going to make a coaching change right now, which I seriously doubt. I hate mediocrity as much as you do. But unlike you I choose not to climb out of the window and hop onto the ledge when I see issues with the Cowboys. What exactly do you want at this point of the season? Fire Garrett now? Is the season totally lost? If this team continues to slide, I would have no problem with Garrett getting the axe, but again I doubt any changes will be made until after the season is over. I personally think Marinelli needs to go, but there still is enough of the season left to turn this thing around. Lets revisit this after the season

Actually, the future schedule helps my argument in the sense that I am saying the Eagles have played much better so far and it's going to be tough for us to catch them because the remaining schedule for the Eagles is easier than ours. Something I, and other people, have clearly said multiple times in this thread.

What's up for debate here is simply GAMES ALREADY PLAYED. And you clearly stated in your earlier post that the Eagles are 5-1 because they've played a cupcake schedule compared to us. That's false and everyone but you can see that.

Parcells told us a long time ago. You are what your record says you are. SOS is a real thing but end of day, it doesn't matter. You gotta play your schedule and you gotta win the games on your schedule. That's really the only true fact in this entire discussion IMO.

That said... all things being equal... my main point all along has been if we handle our business moving forward there is nothing that has happened so far that can't be over come.

They have not. Any statistical measure shows they've played a similar slate as ours or one slightly tougher.

Again, I'll trust math and unbiased analysis over JoeKing. But hey, it was a really tough choice if that makes you feel better.

I actually think we are going to learn a lot about this team, if Zeke gets suspended. This team still has talent. The OL has a tone of talent, they just are not playing together right now. It's like singing a song but you got 5 talents that are not used to playing together. The talent is there but they have to get on the same page if they want to sound good.

This will either force the team to focus or, they will continue to play this scattered type of game with a bunch of talented parts moving in separate directions. Zeke is obviously the best talent of the Offensive weapons. At least that's my opinion, but we have enough talent at RB to make it if we get good performances from the OL. We need to have WRs catch balls, be in the right spots, play good sound football. Dak will get it done if the rest of the Offense does there job. If not, he's gonna struggle.

Defensively, we are what we are. We need the DBs to continue to improve. We need continued pressure from DLaw and Irvin and the rest. We need Lee back. We need Hitch back. We need Wilson to step up and give us good minutes. We need Smith on the bench.

I agree, the season is not over but we are gonna find out pretty quick, IMO, if the season should be over in short order.

Yup, we are who we though we were, unfortunately. Maybe the Cowboys will get more serious about building a contender this off-season.

Lets everybody simmer down here. There is no need to get personal or cross lines on this subject. Stop with the name calling please. I don't want to have to ding anybody here. Lets just remember, the Eagles are the enemy, not each other.

Going to close this thread for a few minutes to make sure everyone gets time to see this.

So there can be no more excuses when you get dinged for getting out of line.

This thread is getting opened back up.

If you cannot act like an adult and drop the petty insults and name calling you will either be completely removed from the thread OR you will be benched.
