Breakdowns on the backe end? You mean like Allen's blown coverage on Victor Cruz's 80 yard TD. I love the move to start Wilcox

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on this here interweb.

I remember when people said the same thing about Watkins starting as a rookie.

Hopefully, Wilcox fares better.

It wasn't that long ago our secondary coach said Wilcox was years away from starting. I think this probably has more to do with Allen sucking than anything Wilcox has done.

Actually, he said "light years" away, which is actually a measure of distance, not time. Of course he didn't mean that he had 180 billion miles to go, but it is indicative of the fact that he was just throwing out a concept that he had a lot to learn and not an actual guess that the guy was really "years" away from starting.

The understood message there was that if he learned what he needed to learn, he would start, regardless of actual time.

I dont know, im not overly excited over this but maybe he might make me change my mind. Overall im not teetering one way or the other. Just another guy in a good defense. I dont think he;ll bring the house down, i dont think he ll stink up the joint.

I don't know about you guys, but I get really emotional when I see the stuff about his mom and knowing that she just wants him to keep doing what makes him happy.

I hope this kid turns into something special.

Watkins never showed anything ever. Not practice/preseason/reg season.

Wilcox has stood out in practice and made plays in preseason. Two diff players.

I got choked up too. Lost my mom in 2012 and to be honest I wasted a lot of years not making her proud. But yet she always acted like I was the most special person in the world. I miss her so much and it touches me to see this man still so young honor his mother the way he does.

Great news. The best thing I like is after he lays the wood on somebody (hopefully big mouthed Desean Jackson for starters), word will spread around the league about this kid. Pretty soon every WR we play will feel the need to keep their heads on a swivel when running their routes. That could lead to players not keeping their eyes on the ball and potential INTs for our defense.

I'm rooting for his success and willing to accept any growing pains he'll most certainly go through. Glad the coaches are giving him a chance.

I remember when our early 90s team was just becoming great, I was really stunned and impressed by our team speed on defense. We were just swarming all over the place getting after it, it was an obvious difference and change and you KNEW this team was gonna be special. We are certainly not there right now but I feel we could be getting close to that with our stud LBs Lee/Carter and Church/Wilcox.

There's a ton of confidence for a guy who has played like 15 games at the safety position in his life, and about 13 them were at the D2 level. Wilcox is for sure an athlete, but I'm nervous with him covering the back 1/2, especially with Church not being great in coverage himself. I understand Allen sucks, but Wilcox is no sure thing either and I don't see how anyone could feel good with him back there already

i feel really good about wilcox back there..

i don't feel confident about a lot of players on this team...

especially the older ,entitled , washed up players who everyone loves so much...

i'm loving this new churning of the roster.

this team needs a transfusion of young, hungry players who want to play ball.
