well, you can start with an OU- TX Tech game last season
and talk about the OU-Oregon game this year as well as another college game...
and finish with a few calls in the NFL so far this season...but once again...

Wash vs Jax...
1:00 minute left in the half, Wash punts to midfield, Jax player gets tackled and fumbles.
Replay CLEARLY shows that the ball carrier's knee was down WELL before the ball came out. Play was ruled a fumble on the field...was challenged by Jax and field call was upheld. Wash ball at midfield with a minute left and two timeouts. They get a few first downs and convert a fg before half.

Had the correct call been made, Jax would've had the ball, a 17-10 lead. Probably would've at LEAST gotten a FG before half if not a TD to take a 20-10 or 24-10 lead into halftime. Instead, Wash gets the FG and goes into half with some momentum and only down 13-17.

I'm so tired of instant replay making the incorrect call even though 10 million people at home are seeing clearly what the obvious RIGHT call is. Its embarrassing to the league, to football, and is changing games....for the worse. People should start losing their jobs OR the system needs fixed...BIGTIME!!! :banghead: :bang2: :banghead: :bang2: :banghead: :bang2: :banghead: :bang2:

And if they can't fix it...let's get rid of it because it's adding nothing (in many cases detracting from), disruptive, costing teams timeouts, and giving a false sense of justice. Its absolutely ridiculous.

NFL replay system is lighty years better than most of the college systems. Please don't include college screw ups in talking about how bad the NFL system is. NFL is right 99% of the time on replays.

I have never liked replay and I never will. Not in its current format anyway.

University of Houston at Miami-

1st play - James of Miami catches, turns, takes a step, loses ball. Call? Never had possession. No fumble, Cougars don't get ball

2nd play - Miami receiver catches at Houston 3 yard line, turns takes step, ball knocked out of his hand. Call? Catch, Miami ball Houston 3.

I defy anyone to look at the two replays and show me any difference? You see that kind of inconsistency game after game. Just scrap the stupid thing, it doesn't do enough good to undo the bad.

You need to watch a few more OU or Tech games then. College replay is horrific. Part of the problem is that college officials are worse than NFL officials. Some of it is just inexperience, some of it is lack of officiating talent, and some of it is bias by some officials. There have been games in the near past where critical calls benefiting one team by an official who was an alum of that team. Officials from one conference have a problem of siding with the school from their conference in an inter-conference game.

The officiating in college games is by far worse. This extends into replay as well.

You all need to calm down. You focus on a few bad calls. But you totally ignore all the calls that end up being reversed after a review. Does it catch everything? No. Has it improved the accuracy of the calls and outcomes? Yes.

Any system relying on human judgement will have some flaws.

Instant replay will never be 100% accurate. Therefore knowing it is a flawed system, why do people expect it to be perfect all the time?

The excuse, that the ball could not be seen, was extremely weak. That play was covered from four different angles.

All they had to do was synch two different angles in a split screen--one showing the knee down and the other showing the ball still in possession of the returner. How that isn't the way they normally do it anyway is beyond me.

Yes, that call was terrible. There was no excuse for that call.

Ball is hidden from view even though his knee was clearly down, and that gives them sufficient cause to say "oh well, not enough evidence." That was ********.

Well, I said if it is close, that play will cost the Jags the game and look what happened...

Well Sux for the Jags then HUH? HAHAHA! How do you know they would've even gotten an fg? What if they turned it over? You can't blame that one bad call on the whole loss for the Jags! One play in the 2nd quarter didn't cost them the game.

TOTAL YARDS

SKINS 481
Jags 307

Thats why they lost the game!

The bad call resulted in a Skins FG
Take away the skins FG and the game never goes to OT Jags win by 3

Get it yet?

You could also say,if the skins didn't get the FG right before half...They would have went for it on 4th and inches instead of kicking the FG being down 6 with 2 min. to go.And no one knows what would have happen.

So you can't say the FG before half determined the game.

I don't think that the system itself is a joke. The people who have the opportunity to watch the replays numerous times and still get the call wrong are a different matter.

I see what you're saying, but you can't make that statement. What if Leftwich threw a pick for a TD following that punt? There are too many scenarios that "could have happened" that could have completely changed the game. If the Jags ran better, they "could" have won. Penalty's affect every team in the league so it shouldn't be an excuse.

Well you certainly know Washington wouldn't have gotten a FG and Jax ends up winning the game 30-27. Oh well Washington got a cheap win, I'm sure most teams have benefitted from poor officiating and instant replay. Skins fans shouldn't be touting their team as a superbowl contender (which you know they are) and Jax fans shouldn't be too disheartened by the loss. The better team doesn't always win the game.

the issue isnt the system, its the fact that these days we have 12 cameras with Hi-def shots from every angle, so every little mistake is seen. Im sure the actual % of calls made correctly has gone up the last 10 years, but those plays not challenged are seen on tv in a way the refs can never live up to unless they review EVERY play.

On the fumble by the Jags player in the skins game, there wasnt indisputable visual evidence. The call on the field was probably wrong, but there wasnt a single shot that showed the knee and the ball at the same time. That one field goal also didnt alter the game. It was early enough in the game and enough other things happened after it that it didnt really effect anything one way or another
