ThreeSportStar80;3856021 said:At 9? NO way! I didn't get to watch him in college being I was on the East Coast.
I only draft starting LT's that high. Just me though....
burmafrd;3856187 said:So now the problem would be Free. He will not sign with us without making LT money. Now I happen to think Free can be a better RT then LT. BUT no way does he want to take the cut in money you get that way. If we draft Smith then he WILL be our LT in the future. Free is a FA this year, right? I am amazed that from the pictures, he is not blubber but looks ripped. Gaining this much weight in a little over 2 months is unusual.

Carimi is going to be a heck of a player in this league and you can add picks and acquire him as well.

Dallas can draft Tyron Smith and play him at RT.
If down the road the Cowboys decide that it's time to move T. Smith to LT and Free back to RT, it should be no problem at all. Free will be making LT money while playing RT.
What beef would he have?
realtick;3856205 said:I see the potential that everyone else sees in Tyron Smith. I wouldn't be opposed to selecting him.
However, I would not shed a tear if we traded back and took Gabe Carimi...love that guy.

CATCH17;3856215 said:Yeah I see the potential too it's just I don't like selecting a Right Tackle @ 9.
I would rather go DE than RT @ 9 as well.
M'Kevon;3856177 said:If you need a RT, draft a RT. At #9. The team needs to stop being cute and start fixing holes. The biggest problem with Dallas is the OL.
burmafrd;3856211 said:Problem is that we are going to have to pay Smith as an LT as well.
fortdick;3855991 said:So, Doug Free is out already? The guy steps in, plays extremely well, and you want to replace him without seeing if he can be even better?
Let's replace that Romo guy, or that Witten guy. Let's draft a wide receiver to take Bryant's place.
C'mon, Smith may be all that and a can of beer, but we don't need a LT right now. If we draft him to play RT and he shows soemtime he is better than Free, great, but it should not be a plan.
