It's Simple! Taco Needs Seasoning

That's fair. But someone drafted at 28 shouldn't be a project either. And that's what Taco looks like right now, a 4th round project.

That's kind of like stating that a grizzly bear won't ever circle around and become the hunter. The kid did well at the college levels. He needs to find out that he too is a grizzly, and act accordingly.

Exactly. Provided he has the right attitude and commitment to his craft, he'll be fine. It is just going to take time. I've been watching football for a long time and I tell people every year if you aren't drafting the de in the top 10 chances are it's going to take awhile for him to acclimate to the pro level. Rare is the de that comes in with the requisite strength to handle NFL-caliber OT's. And if they already have it, like I said before, they are most likely going in the top 10 of the first round.
Wish more of our fans see what you had just written. :hammer:

I missed a few series for one reason or another, but I don't remember his name being called once...too early to worry/think about it...I was happy to see Awuzie's name get called and Collins playing RT...a good start (although listening to Collingsworth butchering Awuzie's name was like fingers on a blackboard)

That's an AWESOME analogy, MissAnn. Kudos!

he looked like a next morning on the kitchen counter Taco Bell taco that I forgot to eat after a night of heavy drinking
I don't know...I know people who would love that taco...;)

He wasn't called but he also only played in two series which also happened to be the two series where the Cards put up the majority of their points, so I understand the collective concern...it is just a bit premature.

This Taco also needs more meat!

I think the problem is, everyone wanted a weak side, screaming around the corner DE and the team took another strong side, set the edge and go DE. Taco isn't the problem at this point, expectations are.

yes, but they drafted taco saying he is weak side.

yes we agree.

Mostly I think it's just a little silly to be ragging on a guy for his athleticism when that was the biggest knock on him coming out. He doesn't have a great first step, but contrary to what many people believe, anticipation can be learned and improved. When his head isn't swimming with X's and O's before the play I think he's be a great strong side guy.

i think it is also silly to rag on him this early.
his athleticism is pretty good if you look at the 10 yard instead of the 40, which is more relevant for DL anyway.
question is can he be greg hardy (with the problems) and man the RDE.

the FO set themselves up for this.
they did not sign any edge rushers other than moore...
they let all their DBs go so created a crisis of missing backfield.
they were forced to use numerous draft resources on DBs.
thus they did not trade up in the 1st for RDE and they did not draft RDEs in the 2nd like Willis and Basham when they were there for the taking.
they also did not take Watts for OLB/RDE even though he would have been 'lower risk' for creating edge pressure.

I'm glad they didn't move up in the 1st as it probably would have cost them Chido. I also think they are higher on Tapper than they were on Willis and Basham.

Well said.

numerous discussions after the draft alluded to cowboys wanted Takk and the RDE the dolphins took. they were unwilling to trade up for them.

you may like chido, but we forced ourselves into redoing the backfield by kicking out all our FAs.
if forced to choose between pressure and coverage, i would take pressure any day.
